Turkish Film Breaks Records by Showing U.S. Troops as Criminals
March 3 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. troops massacre guests at an Arab wedding and Army doctors steal organs from Iraqi prisoners in a movie that is breaking box-office records in Turkey.

``Valley of the Wolves: Iraq,'' in which a Turkish agent avenges the arrest of his country's commandos by U.S. soldiers, is tapping growing anti-American sentiment as the war in Iraq drags on. Since it premiered Jan. 31, the movie starring U.S. actors Billy Zane and Gary Busey has been seen by 3.9 million people, making it the most-watched Turkish film ever, says the film's distributor, Istanbul-based Kenda Film.

``Turks are going to this movie because it hits close to home about their worries over the U.S. occupation in Iraq,'' said Soner Cagaptay, an analyst at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. ``There's sympathy in Turkey for the plight of fellow Muslims.''

The head of Germany's Christian Social Union, the sister party of Chancellor Angela Merkel's Christian Democrats, this week said the film showed Turkey wasn't suitable to join the European Union. The U.S. military last month warned troops in Europe to avoid theaters where the movie was playing, according to the newspaper Stars & Stripes

2. Have you seen it?
I haven't, so I can't claim that it "tells it like it is". It's my understanding that the doctor who removes organs of Iraqi prisoners is depicted as Jewish. If so do you believe this depiction is accurate? For that matter, do you believe any US doctor is removing the organs of Iraqi prisoners to sell on the black market? Just curious.

3. soldier parts...of course I can see a doctor (military) doing this
how else to better replace the needed parts in soldiers than with the parts from iraqi prisoners. Need a kidney, no problem...

5. As I understand it the film
portrays a Jewish doctor removing organs of Iraqi prisoners to sell on the black market. Ancient and thorougly discredited blood libel. Slightly different scenario than the one you're describing, but forget that, because I'm disgusted with your easy acceptance that US military doctors would carve up Iraqi prisoners for the benefit of US soldiers. Do you have the slightest shred of evidence that such a thing has ever happened? No, of course not. I'm so sick of the mindless knee jerk response that dictates that any scenario that depicts Americans as despicable must be true or likely. Makes me want to puke as much as the other side of the coin. It is, in fact, the same mentality, or lack thereof. Now I'll wait for the inevitable bullshit about how I must be an apologist for fascism or some similar nonsense.

7. its not an easy acceptance...
its a reality that our people torture other people. Now whether that is purposely breaking bones, inflicting pain, using their kids/wives as the target until they break, OUR military has done all of this at the call of their superiors. I don't put ANYTHING past them anymore...these same "doctors" are the ones inserting the feeding tubes into these "prisoners".

9. All they had to do is reenact the very real AbuGhraib abuses.
Perhaps be a bit creative with torture methods, that wouldn't stretch reality too much. They had plenty of nasty stuff they could use: random shooting of civilians, corporate corruption, sexual abuse... no shortage of material to bash the USA in a movie.

But nooooooo, they HAD to go elders-of-zion.

I'll go out on a limb here: the majority of people who unabashedly praise this movie here don't REALLY approve of it. They have... other reasons.

Hence the

8. Three things:
Edited on Fri Mar-10-06 11:18 AM by Commie Pinko Dirtbag
One:

From the descriptions, look like stupid jingoistic propaganda just like "Rambo", only with the USA at the wrong end of the rhetoric. For a movie that REALLY tells it like it is, go see "Syriana".

Two:

Three (for the OP):

Indiana Jones and the Nazis of Doom. The Mummy, and The Mummy Returns. About ten thousand movies with russian bad guys.

Everybody loves their bad guys - it makes life much simpler.

This post is misleading.

The movie is not about American soldiers
stealing body parts.
