AP: Bush's Approval Rating Falls to New Low

WASHINGTON - More and more people, particularly Republicans, disapprove of
President Bush's performance, question his character and no longer consider him a strong leader against terrorism, according to an AP-Ipsos poll documenting one of the bleakest points of his presidency.

The poll suggests that most Americans wonder whether Bush is up to the job. The survey, conducted Monday through Wednesday of 1,000 people, found that just 37 percent approve of his overall performance. That is the lowest of his presidency.

Bush's job approval among Republicans plummeted from 82 percent in February to 74 percent, a dangerous sign in a midterm election year when parties rely on enthusiasm from their most loyal voters. The biggest losses were among white males.

On issues, Bush's approval rating declined from 39 percent to 36 percent for his handling of domestic affairs and from 47 percent to 43 percent on foreign policy and terrorism. His approval ratings for dealing with the economy and Iraq held steady, but still hovered around 40 percent.

20. I think we are witnessing the deliberate dismantling of Junior...

...and I think it's all a bunch of BS.

I'm convinced that Rove is behind this, believe it or not.

BushCo knows damn well that if they lose Congress--that Junior is complete burnt toast. Dems will be able to have hearings and get to the bottom of every scandal that the Reps have glossed over.

I imagine Rove is advising Junior to allow Congress to distance themselves from him--until the 06 elections are over. Then, they can all go back to catapulting the propaganda and implementing the fascism.

The Reps have stood by this sickening, unAmerican dictator. They agree with him on his most fascist of issues (Patriot Act, Iraq, bankrupting the country, outsourcing, cutting student loans, slashing programs that hurt the poor, nominating radical conservatives for the USSC). The Reps have buried the scandals and prevented the truth from surfacing (Plame, Wiretaps, etc).

Are we now supposed to believe---just a few months from these pivotal elections--that the Rep Congress members are just now SOOOO outrageous about Bush?

I think not. This is a ploy. As usual, the media is so willing to play along.

27. I believe that the Rep Congress is turning away from Bush ...

because of the midterm elections, but I think the public at large is really starting to see him for who he is. Now that the Corporate Media is seeing that they might need to pander to what the majority of the public is thinking, they are going to start reporting more and more about how badly everybody thinks Bush is doing and actually maybe occasionally slipping in a scandal or two and that will serve to wake some more people up.

But, as to what you were saying, no, I totally don't think the Repubs are turning against him in any meaningful way. They're just trying to save themselves. That's what they do.

There is ample reason to have such suspicions, imho. It is wholly consistent with the "one-party rule" strategy being pursued by the Reichlickers. We need merely look at the Dubai Ports fiasco to observe the theme being promulgated. There's no way in Hell Hunter/Hastert/Lott/et. al. would be posturing publicly in the way they have without aspirations to further entrenching one-party rule.

Here're the spin themes:
(1) The Democratic Party is not a viable alternative. They are merely obstructionist and offer only exacerbations of problems without solutions.
(2) The "loyal opposition" is within the GOP itself, since 'better solutions' come from nowhere else.
(3) The Democrats are irrelevant.

These spin themes add up to "one-party rule." Be afraid.

...book "See No Evil", on which Syrianna is based.

I am firmly convinced that the corruption on both sides is so unimaginable--that there really are not two sides anymore. Like you said, it's "one party rule." They're all so incredibly corrupt, greedy and amoral and they cover for each other. They're all working their deals under the table and using their power to make themselves and their friends more wealthy.

I believe that there's a mutual understanding between Democrats and Republicans--they all shut up about the corruption and degradation of our Constitution. They all win. On the surface--each side has to pander to its constituents, but it's just a game--marketeering to the stupid commoners that we are.

What we see is what they want us to see. It's a glossy surface propped up to make us believe that there are two parties with disparate views---democracy.

Really--as you said--they are all in bed together. Look how chummy the Bush's and the Clinton's are. Furthermore, the Clintons don't speak out against Bush and his sick, fascist, unAmerican agenda--when the corruption and evil is so obvious.
