Looks like New Orleans is waking people up. Cosby is shaking their bed again.

And I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk. And then I heard the father talk.
Everybody knows it's important to speak English except these knuckleheads. You can't be a doctor with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth. In fact you will never get any kind of job making a decent living. People marched and were hit in the face with rocks to get an education, and now we've got these knuckleheads walking around. The lower economic people are not holding up their end in this deal.
These people are not parenting. They are buying things for kids. $500 sneakers for what? And they won't spend $200 for Hooked on Phonics. I am talking about these people who cry when their son is standing there in an orange suit. Where were you when he was 2? Where were you when he was 12? Where were you when he was 18 and how come you didn't know that he had a pistol? And where is the father? Or who is his father?
People putting their clothes on backward: Isn't that a sign of something gone wrong?
People with their hats on backward, pants down around the crack, isn't that a sign of something? Or are you waiting for Jesus to pull his pants up?
Isn't it a sign of something when she has her dress all the way up and got all type of needles going through her body?
What part of Africa did this come from? We are not Africans. Those people are not Africans; they don't know a thing about Africa. With names like Shaniqua, Taliqua and Mohammed and all of that crap, and all of them are in jail.
Brown or black versus the Board of Education is no longer the white person's problem.
We have got to take the neighborhood back. People used to be ashamed. Today a woman has eight children with eight different 'husbands' -- or men or whatever you call them now. We have millionaire football players who cannot read. We have million-dollar basketball players who can't write two paragraphs. We as black folks have to do a better job. Someone working at Wal-Mart with seven kids, you are hurting us.We have to start holding each other to a higher standard. We cannot blame the white people any longer.

This speech was 3-4 years old.....Although many of the things Cosby said I agree with....

This has nothing to do with Katrina. The conservative White Women that sent it is stirring up the racist pot...you should tell her that too..

The levies broke and drowned a predominately black city.....and many people white and black died....they didn't die because of the perceived life they were living...many of those folks were hard working folks making ends meet like everyone else in the country....they died because of lack of leadership from the WH all the way down to the local level...and many died because of the poverty problem we have in this country...

There are slackers in every community....we all know someone....

I'd really like to know. I have spent most of my life with Hispanics and Native Americans and know very little about the black culture and black communities. So, I'm not being facetious or a smart ass. One thing I do agree with him is about Wal-Wart!!!

18. Bill Cosby is right.....

but he should include ALL people in this because I know PLENTY of white kids that are just exactly like this. My Daughter attends a very well to do high school with maybe 10 black kids in the entire school. Parents drop their kids off in $200,000.00 cars and the kids are wearing horrible stuff from goodwill with green hair, piercings big enough to drive a car through, pants half way down their ass, $300 shoes, cell phones and Ipods. There are the exceptions, but the majority of the kids look, talk and act ridiculous.

They say you are what you eat. Did he turn brown from licking too much shit off his rich massas' asses?

Peer group pressure means these kids Have to speak in the patois of their peers or be ostracised. Berating them achieves nothing. What we should be doing is working out how to attract inspiring teachers, and how to make schools into places that can capture the imagination of kids and make them want to learn. It's disgusting that our countries can find so much money for killing , and so little for public education.

I was reading a study recently showing that every dollar spent on looking after a child's education and welfare, in the long run, will pay off 10-fold. It's time children are seen as the resources that our planet depends on, rather than as burdens who are always someone else's responsability. Every country needs to invest in its future, and feeding children well, educating them, and involving them in the fabric of society so they don't grow up angry, unskilled outcasts is the best investment a country can make.

I look at bringing my own chidren to be loved, healthy, well educated and socially responsible as my personal responsability, but it is inevitable that many parents will fall down in this regard. Until we see all children as society's responsability, kids will grow up with more and more problems, and be less and less able to bring up happy children themselves. Having society split into "them" and "us" is bad for everyone involved; bad for those who can never feel part of that society, and bad for the better off, who live in increasing fear of the growing mass of "have-nots".
