Report posits that Chris Matthews has accepted hefty speaking fees from conservative groups

A new report advanced to RAW STORY Thursday suggests that Chris Matthews, the star of the MSNBC's daily talk show Hardball, has accepted hefty speaking fees from an array of conservative trade associations.

It's too bad they're on the same network. Keith Olbermann is probably the only person who would call him out, but I doubt his producers will let him. Too Bad.

Maybe Jon Stewart

3. Call him out for what?
Sam Donaldson and a lot of other journalists get fat fees from the same associations. And while many of these associations are pro-business and generally pro-GOP, they are not right-wing organizations. When the Dems are in power, they give money to dems.

As much as Mathews bugs me, he's not doing anything illegal by giving speeches for money.

5. There's no way he could get away with it...
I haven't checked MSNBC's prime time ratings, but I've got to believe that Tweety's the cash cow. There's no way MSNBC will pay Olberman to go on the air and present this story.

6. I would accept hefty speaking fees from these groups too
There is nothing wrong with spealing to these trade associations. If they would pay me to speak, I would take their money. And they might learn a thing or too.
