5. Okay....
The Cons do such a fabulous job at trashing her, is this necessary?

Honestly, if you don't like her, fine! Don't vote for her if you have that opportunity.

Let's focus on getting the Cons OUT. You may perceive her as a Con, but as long as she has that (D) next to her name she's in the minority.

flame away!

Have a great weekend everyone!!! :hi:

No, because it is the CONS who will force her candidacy down our throats
They love her...because they know they can demonize her and split our vote. I want the goddam candidate OUR PARTY wants, not the one selected by the corportists boards of the Cabal News Networks and K-Street think tanks.

6. She's not my favorite
However, when she was involved with them "Everything made in America" was their
slogan and basically that's how they started out, with everything made in
America. How things have changed and I absolutely hate what they have become,
they have turned to monsters but I don't know if we can beat Hillary up on this
one.

7. It would help if you explain what your post is about
It amazes me that there are so many completely cryptic OPs. Why would I click over to the article when you haven't said one word about what it concerns other than that it makes you hate Hillary?

28. Just trying to be helpful
Don't you think that posts that treat the subject line like a newspaper headline are more helpful to readers?

Like: "Hillary denying old Walmart ties"

I'm just saying that a lot of people who might be interested in it will never know because they don't know what the post is about.

until she decided to foresake real Americans for the corporatists. Nice try.

11. Wal-Mart was very different back in 1986 when Sam Walton was
still running the show. He did support Bill Clinton because he believed Clinton was a governor who accutally wanted to improve Arkansas' education system. Now, let's get a little more up-to-date:

http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/retail/2004-02-02-walmart_x.htm

•Campaign donations. Wal-Mart's political action committee and employees have given about $1 million in the 2004 elections so far — almost entirely to congressional candidates. Just $5,000 went to President Bush, and none to Democrats seeking the White House — a trend underscored Monday in campaign finance data released by the center. Bush's No. 1 donor to date: Merrill Lynch's (MER) PAC and employees. They gave $432,104 of the $132 million Bush raised. Wal-Mart gives to pro-business candidates, without expectations, Allen says. "There are no quid pro quos," he says.

Walton's children are big givers, too. Wal-Mart Chairman Rob Walton last year gave $25,000 to the National Republican Congressional Committee. His brother, John Walton, gave more than $150,000 to Republican causes since 2000. Their sister, Alice Walton, gave more than $100,000 in the same period.

I posted what I thought was relatively new...I just saw it for the first time. Your post actually took the time to offer some background. I appreciate.

Maybe a few other posters could take some pointers.

16. Right-- we are talking about 20 years ago here

when Walmart was about 30 times smaller than it is today (in terms of sales).

Hillary is not perfect but this line of attack makes no sense.

14. To be fair to Hillary, Walmart in the 80s when Sam Walton was still
running it was a far cry from Walmart today. Workers at Walmart were treated fairly when Sam was running things. Many of them actually became wealthy as a result of Sam's profit sharing plan.

.. of Hillary here and I think she would not make a good presidential candidate for us.

But after reading this article, all I can say is "so what"? What is it you think she should be doing that she isn't, or vice versa?

19. Once upon a time, ya know, WALMART DID NOT SUCK!!!!
It was a business owned by a humble guy who, even after he made millions, still lived in a simple ranch house and drove an older truck. They had low prices, they sold MADE IN USA GOODS, and they greatly improved the economy of Arkansas.

It was only when they became CHINA-MART, and shit--plastic, cheaply made SHIT--went on their shelves, and stores started opening EVERYWHERE, driving out local businesses, and they started treating their employees poorly, contracting with undocumented workers who were treated even worse to do janitorial and shelf stocking duties, that people got pissed off at them.

But for the longest time, they were a nice, cheap, unfancy "department store" of sorts, all on one level, with decent wages, well made, affordable stuff, and good employee benefits.

It is then, when Sam Walton was alive, that Hillary had close ties to WALMART....but casting her association BACK THEN in the light of today is just such a convenient way of marginalizing her, and giving unthinkers just one more BS reason to bash. And it is as big a pile of bullshit as that fake "I invented the internet" story http://www.snopes.com/quotes/internet.asp that is wrongfully attributed to Al Gore.

If I wanted to see people slime Hillary Clinton or any other Democrat, I'd turn on cable news.

26. They don't, or it interferes with what they WANT to think, I guess
Poor Hillary. She just keeps getting kicked, and so much of it is really kinda meanspirited, like this non-story.

Funny, how she said that she wasn't a Tammy Wynette "stand by your man" type (in response to questions about the Gennifer Flowers business) but that song starts out "Sometimes, it's hard to be a woman...."

If she were a male, I swear, she'd be kicking ass all over the US, and a lot of this crap they are bringing up wouldn't be sticking. This country still has a long damn way to go, sadly.
