2008: Hillary, Kerry, Fiengold, Edwards -- Focus on Impact in 2006

It occurs to me that we should focus on how our potential 08 Prez candidates
perform on the main job of helping us take back the congress on 06.

Does this make sense?

1. The above and Clark are actively helping '06 candidates right now

I started getting emails...oh, I think, late last year or early this year from Edwards and Clark regarding supporting those up for re-election in the '06 race and Feingold has a PAC expressly for the purpose. I don't recall getting anything from Clinton or Kerry but that could be because I don't think I ever visit their sites. Clinton also has a PAC for (currently with $71,000 it according to the NYT) and she's been doing a lot of fundraising for other candidates. Don't know what Kerry is doing but I'm sure he's doing something.

Clark and Edwards, neither an officeholder, seem to be working pretty hard.

11. While I am more enthusatic about Wes Clark in the race,

I'll gladly support any of these men and Senator Clinton. The 2008 election well be the straw that breaks the donkey's back. There's simply too much at stake for us too loose.

How the 2006 elections turn out will be very much an issue for '08. I know Edwards is working very hard towards ending poverty and getting the minimum wage initiatives on state ballots. Hot Button issues to get Dems to the polls, that's for sure :patriot:

4. Of course, they all know that's part of 2008

so of course anyone with serious amitions in that regard will be working for candidates in 2006. Not to be cynical, of course. Clark and Kerry are esp. working on getting the vet candidates elected.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that looking at what 08 candidates are doing for 2006 is a good thing, but just one of many things we need to look at. I also want them all to stop focusing on what Bush is doing wrong, and come up with a plan for how we will do it better.

5. I will judge Hillary Clinton by the NYSCD gains

if Sue Kelly and Sweeney are defeated, then she did a good job as NYS Senator. If they get re-elected, then Hillary is just a filler.

6. Hillary is so far ahead in NY, she can afford to engage nationally

to help in specific races. We will see.

8. but in her backyard, the people she represents in DC

need her to campaign here. We have two big winners in NYS (Spitzer and Clinton). Hillary better stay in NYS in 2006. Any campaign outside of NYS will rally opposistion towards her, imho.

NY'ers are not even supporting Hillary for President. If Hillary can't
win in a blue state like NY, she shouldn't run. That's why Gore needs to run again in '08.

10. I think it would be interesting to see the Sienna press release

of this poll.

My local rag, www.th-record.com had a small quip with this data (60% of NY'ers don't want Hillary for Pres), but it was no where near as jaded as the news.

You must know that Hillary would win NYS in 2008, over any GOP, including Rudy or Pataki. This much is true.

I want Gore in 2008 too.
