Democrats strategy is working perfectly !
Who says they have no strategy? Who says they have no plans? Bush is at 35% in the polls and the Repubs in Congress are only a few single digits higher. Yet the Repubs keep insisting that the Democrats give their plan on how to get out of the war they got us in to and how to fix the economy they screwed up and how to fix the Social Security system they have robbed blind for the last 5 years. But the Democrats say nothing... The Repubs scream louder, "Where's the Democrats plan?" The Democrats remain silent and the Repubs sink deeper and deeper in the polls. Yep! The Democrats plan is working beautifully! Just give them a little more rope and watch them hang themselves. :)

1. The Democrats plan will come out in September, before the...
election where we take the country back.

3. Exactly. It's a voting year. That's when both sides actually do something.

4. When the Repubs insist that Democrats have no
ideas it's their excuse to steal elections. It's a see I told you so and uninformed people believe it.

6. Republicans dearly need some message from the Democrats that
they can distort and lie about. They can't run on anything, so they need to run against our message. Dean and the Democratic leadership are not coorperating by telling them what the message is.

I hope the unified message in September/October is "Rollback the Republican agenda to 2000 and contract American to put a hit on the Republican Syndicate".

7. Bingo!
That's exactly what they would do. I think the Democrats are wise to let them stew in their own juices. Democrats have a lot of good ideas but it would only help the Repubs to put them out at this time. So long as the Repubs are sinking in the polls, it's difficult to say that the Democrats are doing something wrong. :)

8. yeah, great plan

So: give them everything they want, along with a few decades of total power to use it as they will, and then when the damage has become as extreme as they can get away with the Dems will come in like the clean-up crew and get stuck trying to undo the damage that they should never have been allowed to do in the first place.

With friends like these ...

9. I find it pretty amusing.

62 months into this Presidency, they've lost 62% of the electorate (or a little more).

It'll be 70% by the end of the year at their average rate. 70% opposition is where Party coalitions schism and break up.

The next couple of months are going to be fun.

10. Just think where they would be if Democrats had alternative plan?
Republicans have never been able to govern. Left to their own devices, we see what happens. Unfortunately for our country, whatever plan the Democrats would put forth would only serve as ammo for the Republican truth assassins. I think they should wait until closer to the election to put forth their plan for getting America back on its feet. Unless of course, Bush and the Repubs start climbing in the polls. Then they may have to offer a plan. But as long as they are sinking, why interfere with a life preserver?

11. Problem Is, I'm Not A Liberal Just For The Sake Of Seeing Them Hang.
I'm a liberal because of the values I believe in. Those ideals are within their own context and stand on their own merit. They are completely outside of any relation to the right wing or their health. They are our issues. My issues. At the end of the day all I care about is how much effort is being put forth to advance those issues.

I'm proud to say I consider our party to be doing what they can to fight for what we believe in and that they do in fact have plans for our ideals to break through. Unfortunately, our reps are squashed at every turn by spin and maneuvering that keeps our progress from making its way to the american people. They stifle us every chance they get, to the point that even many posters on DU attack the dems and the leadership for lack of effort or progress, when in fact they are battling one of the most vindictive, powerful and controlling enemies the political world has ever seen.

I'm proud of them, and they do have a plan. I look forward to the latter part of this year when the ball really starts to get rolling. :)

12. it's a non-strategy strategy that appears to be working for the time being
There's nothing for the Repubs to run against, other than "Dems have no plan", which, albeit true, hasn't gained much traction yet. More importantly, IMHO, is that the MSM can't write much about "nothing" so they write lots about "something", i.e. Iraq civil war, Ports, Patriot ACt, Abramoff, etc.
the unanswered question is, can this "do nothing" strategy be effective until the fall? If the twin meme's of "culture of corruption" and "failure to guard the gates" stay in the headlines, possibly. If the troops come home, or we start a war in Iran, or there's another terra attack, etc. maybe not...

13. Give them more rope and they'll hang the whole world
Edited on Sat Mar-11-06 03:05 AM by 0rganism
All jokes about "well-hung politicians" aside, I've just about had it with the, "Look how crappy they're doing, surely it will be enough to cost them the majority this year."

Well, I got a little bird on my shoulder that says they weren't such hot shit in 2000, either. They pretty much stunk up the place in 2002, and stayed in power quite well thank you very much. They fucked up real bad in 2004, and damn, looks like they won a few more seats then too -- along with the re-election of the stupidest motherfucker ever to make an entire nation into his willing bitch.

Tell ya what, it's not going to happen this year either. Or next time. Or the time after that. Maybe by 2012, we'll all be so miserable that the public won't be such easy dupes, huh?

The way these guys "hang themselves" is by killing the rest of us slowly. When we have piddly shit left, no clean air or water, no way to get decent food or medicine, no rights to privacy or equal protection, and no freedom to speak out or (not to) practice (their) religion, yeah, then there'll be hell to pay. Problem is, we'll all be paying right along with them. We can watch them hang themselves as we dangle together from the same gallows.
