Terror warning to arenas...
snip,

The FBI said Friday there is no specific, credible threat of a terror attack aimed at college basketball arenas or other sports stadiums but acknowledged alerting law enforcement to a recent Internet posting discussing such attacks.

The FBI and Homeland Security Department distributed an intelligence bulletin Friday to state and local law enforcement nationwide describing the online threat against sporting venues, said Special Agent Richard Kolko, an FBI spokesman in Washington.

I don't get this. There is no credible threat, yet they are going to scare the hell out of arena operators?? I am all for keeping people informed and warned about a threat, yet I don't understand the manner in which these warnings are issued. I wouldn't be surprised if there is online threats to damn near everything. Is this more of the Bush people playing politics with terror to get bad news off the tv screens?? Just curious.

Kevin.

1. I'm sorry, but I can't comment on your posting,
because that would only increase the chatter on the internet about this topic, which would lead to re-evaluation about the threat, which would increase the colored threat level, which would increase the chatter on the internet, and so on and on.
Terror, terror, terror. 24 hours a day.

2. There was a really scary old movie
about this scenario. I think it was called "Black Sunday."

3. So how many points did the terror-spreader give to his bookie. . .
and will the home team be told its all just a fabrication and they can play with ease?

Who's to say this round of terror alerts isn't just an elaborate scheme to shave points in a March Madness contest? We've seen plenty of more brazen manipulations. Why not one devoted solely to lucre?

Remember in early 2002, when George Dumbya "misspoke" while in Japan and sent the value of the Yen plummeting against the dollar. The media dismissed it as a mistake, a temporary flux in exchange rate easily corrected, but I've always wondered who may have been lying in wait for that "mistake" and moved quickly to profit handsomely. It would only take a moment, easily exploited if you were aware it was coming. And ever since then, l've agreed with Bartcop's Second Law:

Any time a person or entity makes a "mistake" that puts extra money (or power) in their pocket, expect them to make that "mistake" again and again and again.

So who's to say these days someone hasn't tipped to the profit potential in terror alerts? Unfortunately, it's not something I can dismiss out-of-hand. . .

4. I'm just wondering...
if instead of a 'mispeak' it's a 'misprint'.
There may not be terrorists in the offing, but what about protestors?
Bush and his administration are apparently 'terrified' of them, if the reaction to any kind of protest against Bush's rule is an indicator...
:sarcasm:
