of the lost opportunity of red voters' rejection of Kerry-Edwards in favor of the corrupt and incompetent Bush-Cheney.

11. Hi, babylonsister. Loved your ongoing and loyal and noble support
of the junior senator from Massachusetts. He's a good man.

You hang in there. We need to clean a little House in 2006 and retire a few Senators, too. Burns of Montana and Santorum of Pennsylvania, particularly.

Then in 2008 we need a go-get-im Democratic ticket to lead the country back to its former reputation.

48. Hi, Stevepol. I believe Kerry won the Ohio election, and with it, the
2004 election. No argument there.

I can't say the exact number of votes which are in question, but I remain convinced that Bush-Cheney cheated the nation out of a Kerry-Edwards administration.

Ohio appeared to me to be the epicenter of said cheating, but I am suspicious of the count in New Mexico also, and maybe other states as well.

Nevertheless, a very large percentage of people did vote for George Bush and these are the folks I'm faulting for rejecting Kerry in 2004.

a Democrat standard these days

I believe all the points, but would be happy with only one becoming reality and it is not even listed.

Accountability and to admit you are human (and therefore may have made a bad decision). Without that happening first non of the above have a chance in, well I'll not hold my breath.

33. I think the line-item veto is a good idea
It was a good idea when Clinton was in office and I think it's a good idea now. It's makes Congress more accountable for their actions and might actually decrease some of those 3,000 page Omnibus bills that the Rethugs are fond of assembling.

36. Problem is it'll be used to blackmail and strong arm legislative branch
and concentrate more power in the executive branch. So rather than take a truly courageous stance and call for the end of the tax cuts, he chooses to go along with Bush. Typical.

40. The line item veto can also be a way to hold people
accountable and responsible for their actions in Congress. These Omnibus bills are very bad legislation. They were awful under Democratic Administrations and they are awful under Republican Administrations. The Rethugs give sanctimonious arguments that they are for lower taxes and less government spending and then hide their intentions in these 3,000 page pork-fests that are designed to hide and shield them from the voters so they can never be called to task for their hypocricy.

It is time to stop being so afraid of the Bush Administration and start calling them on their deep bullshit. Make Bush defend passing a bill with Billions and Billions of dollars in pork in it. Tell the people that the bastard has the power to cross out programs in the bill that he doesn't like and that he can challenge the Congressmen and women in his own party who put the pork in there and then hide behind massive votes that 'must pass' in order the for government to keep operating. This is a fundamentally dishonest game. The worst case scenario is already in effect, fear of Bush or fear of standing up to him is not going to make this go away.

I completely support the call for a line-item veto. I think Sen. Kerry's suggestion that Congress vote on a simple majority basis on denying or sustaining the vetoed items is dead-on. I want to see Cong. Young defend his bridge to nowhere in Alaska and the nearly $500 million dollars it will cost. I then want to see a Dem. Congressperson stand up and translate that money into the number of Pell Grants it could fund in his or her district or the number of Medicare prescription it could fill or the number of units of body armor that could supply for troops in Iraq.

I am not afraid of these people. I want to challenge them on their home turf and expose their bullshit agenda for the pack of lies that it is. I think the line-item veto is a good tool to use. I thought so under Clinton and I think so now. It is the right thing to do.

42. Agree
It seems there are so few in the blogosphere who realize that it is possible to disagree with some elements of the campaign without having to totally bash Kerry or the entire campaign. Having the experience of having done things one way, and seeng what did and did not work, may even make him a stronger candidate in a second run.

There were things I'd do differently (with the admission that it is possible that he might have done no better if he took my advice on these things). I do agree that the convention was a lost opportunity and they should have done more to bring out the case as to why Bush should not have been reelected. Of course it is not 100% certain that this would have helped. While I certainly don't agree, after the election polls showed more people thought Kerry ran a negative campaign than Bush.

I really like respect work over wealth. Republicans have succeeded in rewarding the already wealthy, through tax cuts, outsourcing of jobs, and eliminating what they call the "death tax" and I call the Paris Hilton reward. I also like the idea of fighting for American jobs.
