NYT Quote of Day: "You've got such longevity in the WH team that..."
Edited on Sun Mar-12-06 05:36 AM by Hissyspit
I don't the article from which it's taken, but here is the New York Times Quotation of the Day as featured in Sunday's email:

QUOTATION OF THE DAY

"You've got such longevity in that White House team that they are tired. They need a break. They need a big piece of good luck. I don't know what it is."
TOM RATH, a veteran New Hampshire Republican leader.

He doesn't know what it is, people. Isn't that special?

But I think you do, Mr. Rath, it IS the longevity. It's that they have been the White House team too long, five years too long! It's been FIVE LONG YEARS

  • FIVE LONG YEARS of SLAUGHTERING Americans and non-Americans through direct action or indifference.
  • FIVE LONG YEARS of lying and deceit.
  • FIVE LONG YEARS of hiding the actions of government from the people because you knew those actions wouldn't stand up to scrutiny.
  • FIVE LONG YEARS of attacks on true American patriots.
  • FIVE LONG YEARS of un-democratic behavior.
  • FIVE LONG YEARS of the most bizarre illogic and hypocrisy.
  • FIVE LONG YEARS of moral corruption.

Yes, they need a break. We ALL need a break. I propose that they, every last member of the administration, take vacation. There are some rooms open at Abu Ghraib, maybe they can vacation there. Why don't you join them?

What a maroon... (excuse me, "moran")

4. They don't get enough vacations, this crew?
You run for President or apply to work in the White House in order to give years of intense service to your country. It will strain your relationships and it will age you, and that's what you should expect. Not "a balanced life." But I guess it's hard work turning a fine democracy into a wretched fascist state.

5. Isn't that their agenda Mr. Rath?
Bad times, bad luck and we got ours. BushCo created new wealth opportunities for themselves and their crones. Bad luck or laughing all the way to billions? The only thing Dubya couldn't buy was a riding into the sunset happy ending legacy.

As far as I can see they created their own bad luck.

7. here's the NYT article: Bush's Troubles Weigh Heavily as Republicans Meet
By ADAM NAGOURNEY
MEMPHIS, March 11 — Republicans gathered here this weekend acutely concerned with the elections ahead and distressed by the White House's performance since President Bush's re-election. They listened as a parade of prospective presidential candidates wrestled with how much to associate their campaigns with an increasingly unpopular sitting president.

In interviews, officials attending the Southern Republican Leadership Conference here described themselves as shaken by mistakes that have afflicted the White House, culminating with the collapse of the deal to allow a Dubai company to manage six American port terminals. Several urged the president to bring in new advisers to avoid losses in the midterm elections ahead and three fallow years in the White House.

Reflecting the political anxiety heading toward the 2008 election, the party's prospective presidential candidates, who spoke before about 2,000 here on Friday and Saturday, varied markedly in their handling of Mr. Bush as they dealt with what will clearly be a central strategic challenge for them.

Republicans said the complication for these candidates was that Mr. Bush remained highly popular with the party's conservative base, even in the face of deepening concerns across the electorate about his government and his policies.

11. They are being well paid to cover their crimes by keeping the "silence."
The BIG coverup began with stolen election 2000 and then moved on to "9/11." Like the Mafia in the old days....it's a crime family where loyalty is what holds you together. Break that and you "sleep with the fishes."
