Why is Al Gore in Palm Beach Florida ?
I heard someone mention that on TV this morning, can't recall what show? Why would he be in Palm Beach, the scene of the original crime? Is he speaking to a business crowd? Are there any politics involved in this visit? I would like to see Al Gore get back into the fray. His perspective and courage are needed very badly.

4. I was at a private fundraiser last night for Nelson with Al Gore
He was there to support Nelson's re-election to the Senate and my guess is that's why he is in Palm Beach today as well. Time to rally up the Dems in South Florida. He did a brilliant and very Presidential speech about the environment, the crucial place we are at in our country and the importance of the 06 elections, etc. He was fabulous. I'm not a Nelson fan but it was worth the $100 to have a chance to meet and listen to President Gore up close.

By the way, he also thanked us all last night for the work we all did to "bring in Florida" for him in 2000 by 50,000+ votes. Some people in the audience chuckled about the irony- even he said it with a smile. But not me. I started crying. What a damn loss for our country and our planet to not have had this wonderful man, the man who won the election, not become President. I discovered as the tears started flowing after his Florida comments, I still have not gotten over it (and frankly, I never will).

Note- While posing with him for a photo, I asked him whether he'd consider running in 08 and told him that there's a lot of us ready to jump in to support him. His response "It's not something I'm thinking about right now but I thank you and everyone for the flattering offer".

So- my suggestion for those of us who are hoping he will run in 08- is to not let up on this. Write to him, keep up the pressure- maybe he'll consider this.

8. It was really difficult for me to force back my tears- believe me.
As soon as he came into the room, I almost lost it. All of that stuff- the shock, the outrage, the disbelief and finally the sadness about 2000 welled up immediately. Suddenly, it was January 2001 and it all flashed before my eyes again.

He's such a great guy-- damn he's amazing. He should be President. Am I being naive to think he's win again this time?

11. cool that he thanked everyone for working on his 2000 campaign
What with all the things that happened, one could forgive him for forgetting (or even not wanting to think about the Bush-induced recount mess).

5. Al Gore = Good Guy = should be sitting in the WH for his second term
Unfortunately, the Supreme Court had something to say about that.

Imagine the way things could've been.

7. John Oneill allowed to pursue his leads in Sudan, investigations into
the Saudis/Bin Ladens not spiked, Tax cuts given to the poor and lower middle class, Borders secured, International good will still on tap, Environmental rules still as they were, 911 plot discovered and thwarted, etc etc etc..... Michael Moore looking for a good story for a documentary..... yeah, things could have been different and in some alternate universe somewhere this is exactly what happened....

9. For those who don't know who John O'Neill was, a great video online
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/knew/

When the Twin Towers fell on Sept. 11, 2001, among the thousands killed was the one man who may have known more about Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda than any other person in America: John O'Neill.

The former head of the FBI's flagship antiterrorism unit in New York City, O'Neill had investigated the bombings of the U.S. embassies in Africa and the USS Cole in Yemen. For six years, he led the fight to track down and prosecute Al Qaeda operatives throughout the world. But his flamboyant, James Bond style and obsession with Osama bin Laden made him a controversial figure inside the buttoned-down world of the FBI. Just two weeks before Sept. 11, O'Neill left the bureau for a job in the private sector -- as head of security at the World Trade Center. He died there after rushing back into the burning towers to aid in the rescue efforts.

FRONTLINE's “The Man Who Knew,” chronicles John O'Neill's story -- a story that embraces the clash of personalities, politics and intelligence, offering important insights into both the successes and failures of America's fight against terrorism.

continued at above link under Introduction, and there is link to view the program online. A must see by all!
