I just posted a thread--and it disappeared!

It was titled "This American Life: Habeas Shmabeus--anyone listen?"

I spent a good hour composing it. It's not showing up in My Posts, and I can't find the thread in GD. What happened?! Has this happened to anybody else? Is there any way I can retrieve it? I didn't save a copy before I hit the post message button. Aaaaaaaaaargh!!! Please help!

I hit the Post Message button and it just disappeared!

8. It happens, sorry.

Threads will be deleted w/o notice if the post violates a rule. Did it appear at all, or just instantly disappear? Maybe you hit cancel by mistake instead of post, or lost the Internet connection before you posted? Actually, now that I think of it, a deleted thread will still appear in "My Posts", it'll just say Missing Topic when you go there. So if it's not even appearing in My Posts, that makes me think it was never posted at all.

12. I've done this before.

After doing spell check and preview, I have forgotten to post. So it disappears. I have learned the hard way to do long posts that I need to work on in Word first, so if I make a posting mistake, I still have the original.

I have at times been able to retrieve the original by using the previous page button. But this only works if you haven't put too many pages over it.

Or speculative. Certain topics are taboo on DU that shouldn't be. As are certain opinions.

16. The Back button worked! Thank you, thank you, thank you...

I reposted and it seemed to have worked this time. Must have been a computer glitch. Although, to be on the safe side, I replaced the STF phrase "smacked down" with "voted down." Otherwise, my prose is intact. Let me know what you think! Thanks again for your help! :loveya:
