2. Gross, but
what I've come to learn and accept is most of the repukes who *actually* have sons/daughters over there have deluded themselves into believing that * has not lied to them and that their child's sacrifice was/is not in vain. And unfortunately, we have allowed/enabled the likes Hannity/El Drugbo/Aryan Skelecoulter/Laura Ingram to frame the anti-war crowd as crazy, out of touch, anti-american, and many other slights.

Only through education will we change their attitudes.

3. Thankfully
no one sends rw tripe to me - only read it when folks post it to DU.

So what was your response?

35. Yes I like that
I also will mention that an Iraqi woman wouldn't wear a burkha. Or speak out like that.

My friend lives in a teeny little town. I doubt very seriously if she or any of her homies she got this from has ever even met an Iraqi woman.

4. I've seen that one posted on here a ton of times.
I'd tell your Repuke friend that he's not very creative, and that you'll put him on your junk-mail list if he sends you anything else along those lines.

I'm very grateful to not have any Repuke friends.

16. We've been friends 35 years
As much as I love politics, I am not willing to drop this friendship just cause she's a repuke.

18. You're right. I wouldn't drop a friendship over someone's being a Repuke
either. However, it might not be a bad idea to let this person know that this type of email is not appreciated. Sending something like that to someone you know it will offend does not seem like a very friendly type of behavior.

I am, nevertheless, glad that I don't have to contend with such "friendly" emails.

I think she sends me this stuff to get the left view. Then she sends my reply on to all her friends. And I don't mind educating anyone.

32. You shouldn't drop an old friendship over that. However, the friend MUST
respect your limits. If you indicate to your friend that you don't want to receive RW spam political emails like this, the proper response from them is to say "okay" and not send you anymore.

If they don't agree to stop, or say they will but keep sending you this stuff, then they are disrespecting you and my guess is that the friendship is not worth preserving, if it's one sided where you respect their differences but they do not respect yours.

I had something like this where I got stupid hateful RW email from the parents of one of my oldest, best friends. These parents had never been anything but friendly and gracious hosts to me. I actually sent an angry reply, immediately regretted it, apologized for the angry reply but indicated I didn't want to get mail like this. They obliged without any discussion. They screwed up once and sent me another, I pointed it out, and it hasn't happened since, and we get along fine.

If your friend indicates they WANT to discuss politics with you, and you decide you want to do that, then you can take it from there.

7. No one who knows me would have the nerve to send it to me.
And I would bet $20 that incident never happened. Can you just picture some Iraqi woman in a Burkha opening her mouth like that in a grocery store in front of dozens of people. I just cannot get a clear image of that happening.
I could more easily see the people around her starting to harrass her.

I'm obviously going to have to run out and become a Republican to show my faith in the values of our country.

Okay. Done with the sarcasm now.

This is such rabid racist crap it doesn't even deserve a response other than a rush to the bathroom to forcibly eject my breakfast.

As if...

You notice that you never see left wing crap like this? We don't need to make up "feel good" stories to make statements. The truth is good enough.

23. Thought about that, but
a lot of amurikans don't know the difference between a burka and the other, less oppressive forms of muslim garb. A lot of Iraqi women don't wear any head cover, but many do wear a hijab or chador, and the kind of person who would write this would probably call those a burka too.

I still think it's BS, just not for that reason.

chestnut has "been around the block" so to speak.

Since no one is identified, it's impossible to debunk or verify, and people's response to it will depend on whether it suits their prejudices.

27. more of that "our soldiers are fighting for our freedom" crap
No they aren't. There is nothing Saddam Hussein, any Iraqi, or any terrorist for that matter can do to take away my freedom. Only the United States Government can do that.

If those soldiers were really fighting for my freedom, they would have the White House surrounded.

when you get rightwing BS propaganda like that is to explain why it's a hoax, with a link, and then REPLY TO ALL, so everyone who got the original mail gets the lie exposed too.

That'll stop the Koolaid-drinkers from ever sending you that crap again.
