what I've come to learn and accept is most of the repukes who *actually* have sons/daughters over there have deluded themselves into believing that * has not lied to them and that their child's sacrifice was/is not in vain. respect your limits. If you indicate to your friend that you don't want to receive RW spam political emails like this, the proper response from them is to say "okay" and not send you anymore.

If they don't agree to stop, or say they will but keep sending you this stuff, then they are disrespecting you and my guess is that the friendship is not worth preserving, if it's one sided where you respect their differences but they do not respect yours.

I had something like this where I got stupid hateful RW email from the parents of one of my oldest, best friends. These parents had never been anything but friendly and gracious hosts to me. I actually sent an angry reply, immediately regretted it, apologized for the angry reply but indicated I didn't want to get mail like this. They obliged without any discussion. They screwed up once and sent me another, I pointed it out, and it hasn't happened since, and we get along fine.

If your friend indicates they WANT to discuss politics with you, and you decide you want to do that, then you can take it from there.
