I see signs we as a Nation are in big trouble financially. And when I say "we as a country", I mean EVERYONE or at least the majority of the country. I could care less about that TOP 1-3 PERCENT.

Funny, I became disabled from depression just about the time * took office. So why would I think the economy would do any better.

friends have started calling me The Doomsday Voice. There may be a silver lining out there somewhere but I have yet to see it. This administration is still in charge and probably will get their way until we do hit recession. In all my years I have never been so pessimistic or cynical.

Massive social change is often painful. They acknowledge it and embrace it as an inevitable part of their stragegy.

That is why BushCO is so hell-bent on tax cuts, and will never, ever reverse them. They are hording cash for the meltdown which THEY HAVE SET IN MOTION. The sooner we realize this, and get responsible adults back in charge, the sooner we can mitigate the effects of their selfish lunacy.

9. I have little idea what is holding up our economy

Other than financial institutions and insurance companies we don't seem to produce much work exporting (Hell, you cant even export most insurance.)

but I don't think it will be exactly like the one in the 1930's. Might actually be worse. At any rate, I do believe that we are headed toward a major economic upheaval, the likes of which will effect our entire society.

We live in a house that has a lead lined "bomb shelter" built into it complete with toilet and sink (doesn't have a door, though :wtf:). I am recovering from a recent surgery, but the next thing on my list is to fit it out with food, water, camp stove, etc. - In light of gas prices (my grocery bill has gone up about 20% in the past 6 months), bird flu, the general economy... Oh, I could go on and on... Seems like the reality based thing to do.

chicanery in calculating and reporting economic statistics masks it, but what used to be known as GDP is already in decline.

The bush "recovery" was in effect the economy on steroids. Now we've reached the part where the testicles wither.
