So a tornado ran through my RW bro's neighborhood last night...

And homes in his neighborhood received very significant damage. In some cases homes were completley destoryed. He lost a good part of his roof and his fence, power lines were snapped, trees uprooted, along with general rubble left all over the place. Fortunately he's alright and so is everyone in the area. But it got me thinking about last Thanksgiving....

Last Thanksgiving we were watching a news story regarding Katrina victims and the delayed government response. My brother said, "That city needed a good cleaning." His wife responded, "Amen." My Dem sister and I were shocked into silence with their cold-heared response. After all, THEY go to church everytime the doors are open. (My sister and I do not). I almost think he said to provoke a response from us and my sis and I were NOT about give him the satisfaction. We left the room.

So considering what happened last night in Bentonville, Arkansas: I wonder how he would feel if his neighborhood didn't get cleaned up or if received no help from any emergency services for several days or weeks or months. And I wonder how he'll feel if the insurance adjusters refuse to give him enough money to cover his repairs.

I wonder if it'll change his attitue or perspective.

Probably not. He's too hard headed to come to these realizations and comparisons on his own. But help me god if he makes another snide comment about Katrina victims. You better believe I'm going to help him draw some parallels.

"I was talking to a couple of Katrina evacuees and told them about your troubles in Bentonville...and ya know what one of 'em said? 'That place needs a GOOD cleaning!'and the other one said 'Ayyyyy-men!'" Then you can ask him what would make Katrina evacuees so prejudiced against his place of residence--was it something the community did, or failed to do, ya think?

It's a horrible thing to say but the truth is not always pretty.

In fact, the night before the 2000 elections Dumbya held a big rally in Bentonville. The Repukes have a pretty strong hold on this section of the state.

It was headed directly for us, then about 2 miles or so from us it moved slightly north. It appears to have gone through some pastures that run right between my subdivision and hers!

My brother's area definitely got the worst of it.

23. Thanks for the info - I have family in the Little Flock area

and there has been no mention of the storms in the Tulsa media ths morning - at least none that I have heard. The folks tell me they heard the tornado go over their house while they were huddled in the bathtub last night. They are fine but apparently it touched down very close to them. I hear that damage began at Gentry and that Centerton (and lots of new construction in that area) was hit hard and that heavy damage continues to the Rogers airport.
