Dubai Owned Co. Has NO IMMEDIATE PLANS To Sell Miami Ops
DP World: No Plan to Sell Miami Port Ops By TED BRIDIS, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - The Dubai-owned company that promised to surrender its U.S. port operations has no immediate plans to sell its U.S. subsidiary's interests at Miami's seaport, a senior executive wrote Monday in a private e-mail to business associates.

Even if DP World were to sell its Miami operations to quell the congressional furor over an Arab-owned company managing major U.S. ports, "that would probably take a while," wrote Robert Scavone, a vice president for DP World's U.S. subsidiary.

The e-mail, obtained by The Associated Press, added to questions raised since DP World's announcement last week that it will divest U.S. port operations it acquired when it bought London-based Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Co.

DP World has said those operations are worth roughly $700 million.

1. To pay $6.5 billion for this company and fight like hell to handle the US
ports ...we must be looking at some hefty profits for Dubai. So, how does one make money doing what they will be doing in Miami?? Hmmm????

3. Miami is the perfect transportation hub
For whatever needs to be transported north and south, east and west. Drugs from South America to the rest of the world; guns from the middle east and the U.S. to South America; and unlaundered cash flowing in every direction.

9. And to cash in
I know he's tied in to this somehow. I can't help but think of Iran-Contra affair and how Miami was one of the transportation hubs where the CIA ran their guns for drugs.

13. Why haven't they already blown up Miami?
Edited on Tue Mar-14-06 03:04 PM by High Plains
That might be a more apt question. They've had the port concession for years...

edit: oops, this was supposed to be a reply to the OP

14. I doubt they will blow up Miami
More likely, they will use Miami as their home base to set up attacks elsewhere.
