Pat Robertson sees his own Shadow
and of course projects it outward onto 'the enemy'. He has glimpsed into his own soul, and described himself and his aims with great accuracy, but has projected it onto 'the other'. Just read this excerpt, and substitute "Religious Right" for "Radical Muslims" and you'll see what I mean...

Pat Robertson calls radical Muslims ‘satanic’
Televangelist also says the goal of Islam is ‘world domination’

excerpt

Updated: 2:52 a.m. ET March 14, 2006
NORFOLK, Va. - Television evangelist Pat Robertson said Monday on his live news-and-talk program “The 700 Club” that Islam is not a religion of peace, and that radical Muslims are “satanic.”

Robertson’s comments came after he watched a news story on his Christian Broadcasting Network about Muslim protests in Europe over the cartoon drawings of the Prophet Muhammad.

He remarked that the outpouring of rage elicited by cartoons “just shows the kind of people we’re dealing with. These people are crazed fanatics, and I want to say it now: I believe it’s motivated by demonic power. It is satanic, and it’s time we recognize what we’re dealing with.”

Robertson also said that “the goal of Islam, ladies and gentlemen, whether you like it or not, is world domination.”

1. Pat is clueless, plus bat-shit crazy
Does he understand the hypocrisy here? Doesn't he understand that he will receive more criticism by saying such things?

3. I look forward every day to the next dumb thing he will say
He is the greatest source of amusement for me in these dark times.

From his suggestion that we Nuke the State Department, to his recommendation to assassinate Hugo Chavez, to his threat to call down the Wrath of Jehovah onto the town of Dover, he is the 'comic relief' section in an otherwise very nasty, ugly politico-religions movement (the Religious Reich).

5. detailed analysis of Pat's plans for "World DOMINION"
The Despoiling of America
How George W. Bush became the head of the new American Dominionist Church/State

http://www.yuricareport.com/Dominionism/TheDespoilingOfAmerica.htm

excerpt:

This article is the documented story of how a political religious movement called Dominionism gained control of the Republican Party, then took over Congress, then took over the White House, and now is sealing the conversion of America to a theocracy by taking over the American Judiciary. It’s the story of why and how “the wrath of God Almighty” will be unleashed against the middle class, against the poor, and against the elderly and sick of this nation by George W. Bush and his army of Republican Dominionist “rulers.”

The years 1982-1986 marked the period Pat Robertson and radio and televangelists urgently broadcast appeals that rallied Christian followers to accept a new political religion that would turn millions of Christians into an army of political operatives. It was the period when the militant church raised itself from centuries of sleep and once again eyed power.

At the time, most Americans were completely unaware of the militant agenda being preached on a daily basis across the breadth and width of America. Although it was called “Christianity” it can barely be recognized as Christian. It in fact was and is a wolf parading in sheep’s clothing: It was and is a political scheme to take over the government of the United States and then turn that government into an aggressor nation that will forcibly establish the United States as the ruling empire of the twenty-first century. It is subversive, seditious, secretive, and dangerous.<9>

Today, Dominionists hide their agenda and have resorted to stealth; one investigator who has engaged in internet exchanges with people who identify themselves as religious conservatives said, “They cut and run if I mention the word ‘Dominionism.’”<11> Joan Bokaer, the Director of Theocracy Watch, a project of the Center for Religion, Ethics and Social Policy at Cornell University wrote, “In March 1986, I was on a speaking tour in Iowa and received a copy of the following memo Robertson had distributed to the Iowa Republican County Caucus titled, “How to Participate in a Political Party.” It read:

“Rule the world for God.

“Give the impression that you are there to work for the party, not push an ideology.

“Hide your strength.

“Don’t flaunt your Christianity.

“Christians need to take leadership positions. Party officers control political parties and so it is very important that mature Christians have a majority of leadership positions whenever possible, God willing.”<12>

6. It's the rule of the religious right...
Point fingers at everyone except yourself. Because you call yourself a Christian, you can do no wrong. Everyone else is wrong, but you're right. That's Pat's mantra...

Kind of like anti-choicers that find themselves in trouble and "need" an abortion, then condemn others for being "murderers." Warped, insane logic (actually, there is no logic there).

7. that man makes me soooo angry!
It is beyond me how ignorant and blind that man, and others like him can be. Jeez, how in the world does he expect a group of people to act who had their god disrespected?? Pat Robertson and his ilk blow a gasket when someone "offends" THEIR god, but yet, they say "just shows the kind of people we're dealing with" if somebody else gets upset because their god was offended. Why do these so-called "christian" right people feel they have the right to defend their own beliefs, but walk all over (or support others who do) someone else's beliefs? It makes me sick. As for the world domination thing, well, I think the orginal poster made that pretty clear with their post. Pat is just looking at himself in the mirror.

8. I know! He really makes me mad, too.
I wish I could laugh it off, but he has the ear of far too many people.

Welcome to DU, BTW. :hi:

10. Welcome to DU squarepants!!
There is a psychiatric definition that fits Pat Robertson - it's a technical term called TFC. Totally f***ing crazy.

The posters up above you are right, just look at it as comic relief. Even the nutball cases in our illustrious congress and administration know that Pat is wa-a-a-a-a-ay out in space.

9. So... that means six more weeks of hell?
Sometimes I think Robertson just keeps talking because he likes the sound of his own voice.

12. Pat looks rather satanic himself
Anyone who can wear a smirk on their face while they attack millions of others is certainly an instrument of utter evil.
