Comparative Republican Ethics....
Edited on Tue Mar-14-06 11:12 AM by kentuck
They rushed to every microphone and TV camera when Clinton was President. Nobody is above the law, they preached, not even the President of the United States. They said the President had lied, under oath, about whether or not he had sex with an intern named Lewinsky. They had only one option and that was impeachment. In their morality rush, they all stood shoulder to shoulder and pronounced Bill Clinton guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors. History will judge that they impeached Bill Clinton.

Now, there is a President that has lied to all of America. He has broken the laws by spying on Americans and we have no idea of who or how many. Where are the Republicans? Rushing to the microphones and TV cameras? Not hardly. They are busy trying to create laws retroactively to decriminalize the actions of their President. History will have to judge them on their ethical comparisons.

1. In rainy Canandaigua
Edited on Tue Mar-14-06 11:50 AM by PATRICK
Just miles away the Chimperor is invading a perfectly good school where kids have to park their cars at a supermarket a mile away and not bring any bags to school. Presumably the skinheads will be wearing fake blond crewcut wigs and the Goths will be confined to the cafeteria listening to Pat Boone records.

The protest must be made after he leaves at 4:30, on the other far side of town. It was bright and sunny with state trooper vans(vans?) stationed at every roadside locale that sells donuts. As the time approached the clouds trolled in, the rain and cold. Goodbye sunny photo-op, hello Dictator.

And in all the press, nothing much is said about the actual person and his actual acts, just the goosebump prickly privilege of having the "President" and his army descend upon the mere mortals who think this is just awesome. Retch.

Man, the weather. It's like Sauron has landed.

5. Two old veterans
were talking in the repair shop and generally were against the war and Bush. They hoped he would visit the VA and at least give something to the patients there who don't know much about the crap. Of course the Bush people are trying to close that VA and perhps convert it to their own malevolent purposes but they rarely take advantage of this hunger for goodwill that even their adversaries talk about when the "president" alights on local soil.

Will try to get a report of the trip underneath the PR offensive.

3. Restoring honor and dignity
or conspiring to commit frauds and obstructing justice. If no man is above the law, then why is it okay for the Repo congress to keep this administration's crimes from justice?

6. Look up their speeches
I found the text of my Repug Senators' speeches when they voted to impeach Clinton -- they're just chock-full of lofty words and ideals. They make me want to puke. I snipped some paragraphs and posted them publicly in their respective congress.org "letters" so everyone might see their gross hypocrisy.

7. Visibly their balls shrink every day.

They are like lemmings, like cockroaches. Truly they are scum, with not the merest hint of moral fibre.

8. This is why conservatives who blame Bush make me sick.
This whole thing is one big continuous movement, from Gingrich's 94 Congressional victories, to the Clinton impeachment, to the 2001 election theft, the DeLay redistricting and so on. It's all part of one push. They all pushed this assault on democracy as hard as they could. The Bush Administration is only the current tip of the spear, but the direction has not changed for 15 years or more.
