4. First place I go with my personal troubles is to post them on the Web. . .
for everyone to read. No sense keeping my private business to myself when I can let everyone have a good laugh at my expense.

10. I totally agree
But I'll bet there are a lot of folks who wouldn't even get the sarcasm in your post. We live in a Jerry Springer/Maury Povich age, when people don't mind laying out the most intimate details of their personal lives for the rest of the world to see.

6. The results have no validity whatsoever
For a poll result to have any meaning, there must be some control over who participates in it.

7. I watched the coverage on this story
It's about a website where women can report cheating dates, boyfriends, husbands whatever. It was interesting that the attitude of the story was all fun and light. There was no question of privacy rights or more importantly the fact that you can anonymously post something potentially defamatory about someone. It's insidious the erosion of privacy and the gradual policing of sexual behaviour that's emerging.

11. Not necessarily sexual behavior
I agree with you that privacy is being eroded and sexual behavior is being policed.

But cheating isn't just about sexual behavior. It's about a betrayal of trust, as well. Couples who aren't dedicated to monogamy by mutual agreement aren't cheating when they choose other partners. The cheating--and the great pain involved-- comes from the broken promises, and from putting someone else ahead of the SO. So the cheating website isn't just about sexual behavior.

Not the route I would choose, btw. But people deal with intense pain in different ways.

8. attempts to demolish notion of privacy and personal have not yet succeeded
the vermin will have to work harder to make that result come about, we're not all Connected and Under Control yet, which means that we must not be following Natural Law.

14. Good point. Revenge and rebound combined might just add up to
a rather high scoring ratio.
