but I've heard that they are pretty close and with Rudy and McCain's support among Indies he could make ground up in the NE and perhaps carry a few states that may be Democratic leaning. The south is so Republican that most of those states would vote Republican anyway--but it depends on who the Dems nominate. If someone like Warner is nominated or even Clark we might gain some ground in the south if it's someone like Hillary we would probably lose most southern states again.

By late 2007, I have a feeling that there will be such a groundswell for COMPETENCE (and like it or not, Giuliani has a largely undeserved, but strong perception of competence) that he could pull fiscal conservatives, libertarian types and just about every one from the right side of the aisle except the "values" voters. Split the Repug vote and clear sailing for us, right?

Well, given the continued miscues from our DEMS, we will likely have to face up to a belligerent media that wants to focus on DEMS as spineless (not without some cause, mind you)) and unwilling to take a stand If they effectively push the point, we could have many disillusioned Dems and independents taking a second look at Giuliani and quite possibly giving him the margin he would need.

So, yeah. I'm damned concerned about Giuliani. Admittedly though, between him and McCain, I'd probably take Giuliani myself...
