Poll question: Appropriate Response to 9-11/Terrorism?
Edited on Tue Mar-14-06 08:02 PM by Yollam
Let's just pretend for a moment that we had a relatively ethical and honest president on 9-11, and that said president had no foreknowledge or involvement in said attacks (I know, it's a stretch) what would be the appropriate course of action to take?

1. first have a real investigation of who actually did it
instead of destroying evidence, classifying everything, coverups, and blocking of all investigation.

3. Great point.
A little late and no space to add it, but it goes without saying that an ethical president would do that...

5. That, and point #5 is the problem solved
This mindless secrecy is pure lunacy.

Although I think it's really a coverup for gross incompetence, as is about 80% of classified information.

2. No
The "war on terra" is a complete fabrication produced after the events of 911, which the government of the United States planned, carried out, then covered up. What should we have done about it? Nothing short of arresting the neo-cons.

6. I agree
Indict, impeach, try and jail the usual suspects.

4. I do think Afghanistan was the right thing to do
Although we didn't do it in the right way - beyond that, it's clear that the SWAT approach is ideal.

7. Agreed.
You don't use a .50 caliber gun to kill mosquitoes just as you don't use an armed force to destroy small, mostly unorganized radical groups.

A little intelligence (in both senses) goes a long way.

8. Not entirely sure
about Afghanistan. Some say the world bank needed the influx of money from the drug trade that the fanatical Taliban was successful in wiping out.
