Poll question: Would you dance with the devil (*) if it would help a favourite cause?
Bush is the same president we all love to hate, but he decides to support a cause that you fervently believe in. You're asked to participate in the announcement/photo opportunity. Do you?

1. NO. Deals with the Devil ALWAYS backfire.
B*sh would never truly "support" any good cause;
he would merely associate himself with it for his own gain.

It might seem like a good idea at first, but I guarantee
it would end in tears and smirks, one way or another.

2. First of all, he'd NEVER support my favorite cause
(social and economic justice for all), and if he did, he'd be doing it for some horribly self-serving, photo op reason. No WAY I'd help him look good "supporting" a good cause.

3. Bush wouldn't truly support it
he just talk vaguely about it then do whatever the hell he was planning in the first place.

4. It is beyond my ability to imagine a cause that I believe in that Bush
would support. There is not one thing that we even remotely agree on.

5. I resent the devil comparison
Why don't you just say dance with Bush? Dancing with the Devil implys risky fun. Dancing with Bush is just plain icky.

6. Would yvr_girl being dancing with us, too?
That would be an important factor.

Seriously, that seems a pretty unlikely hypothetical. If Bush was on the same side of an issue I was, I would assume automatically that he was manipulating it for his purposes and was not REALLY on the same side of the issue. How do you know when Shrub is lying? His lips are moving.

8. If he would do it, that would mean he's changed his ideology
So yes, I'd support him once I determined the conversion was sincere.

9. No - He'd Sell Me Out
George W. Bush is not a trustworthy man. Could you imagine him as a stockbroker? Would you invest $10,000 with him? Good Lord, no. It would disappear so fast you'd never even see it whiz by. He'd take the check, smile, and utter banalities.

And he'd steal your money without even thinking about it.

He's an untested, incurious, callow, superficial man, who has been wealthy all his life, and who has NEVER been forced to confront the actual life-and-death consequences of his actions.

If you don't believe me, just think back to the moronic look on his face when he looked out the window of Air Force One, cruising over Katrina-ravaged New Orleans.

10. Absolutely NO
Cease to do evil; try to do go. If everyone would live by the first imperative, there'd be less need to so the second. And that means just stop. Stop contributing to evil, stop tolerating it in your midst, and when it is stopped then and only then consider doing good.

Cooperating with Bush -- even if tangentially a good I care for can be realized -- is akin to aiding and abetting a war criminal, a Regime that has committed high crimes and misdemeanors, that warrant impeachement, conviction, imprisonment, and civil penalties, that should be rended to the Hague. Bush, too, is like Satan of the bible, the king of lies, no promise made would ever be kept.

11. Dunno
Is there pale moonlight involved? That sweetens the pot you know... I've always wanted to dance with the devil in the pale moonlight... Ewww, you meant bush?

No, honestly, I'm too old and too set in my ways to sell out at this point. If nothing else I can wake up and look at myself and know I've been true to my convictions. For me, that's enough.

13. Dance Wth The Devil!
Does this equate with "Politics Make Strange Bedfellows?" I remember hearing that one way back in the 50s when I first got interested in politics.

Not even it meant I'd be turning the key to his jailhouse to lock him in. Couldn't bear his insufferable self. Not in pictures so definitely not irl.

re-think if I were really supporting the right course.

No way.

17. It would be an illusion of course!
It would be a trick, a sleight of hand! Never trust the devil!

(I'm actually agnostic/atheist, and I although I don't believe in a supernatural Satan, * is as close a resemblance to the devil as humanly possible.)

22. No because he is an insensitive bastard who says what he needs to
in order to get support and then does the exact opposite with regard to anything positive that would help the less fortunate or anything progressive. IOW, I don't trust him or take him at his "word" on anything.

26. As the old Dire Straits song goes about an even older saying...
"When you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas."

And if you want to go further. The ends do NOT justify the means. This is the reasoning being shoved down our throats about Iraq.
