I've done my best to collect as much of the information on the organized march, rally and protests for this weekend and have listed/orgainized them below by CITY and ORGANIZATION. It has been THREE YEARS of this "cakewalk." The tide is turning but we still need to show our American faces and make our voices heard. Please do something this weekend and document what you do. Spread the word. (If you have problems with A.N.S.W.E.R., or whomever, find an alternate protest, but do something!)

FROM MOURNING TO RESISTANCE! 3 YEARS TOO MANY – STOP THE WAR!
Washington, DC, March, 20, 9 AM
The National Campaign for Nonviolent Resistance is organizing "From Mourning to Resistance," a March to the Pentagon on Monday, March 20, that will culminate in nonviolent direct action. It will begin with a 9 AM gathering near the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The March bearing a coffin filled with names of the dead will step off at 10 AM and cross the Memorial Bridge and proceed to LBJ Memorial Grove adjacent to the Pentagon, from where nonviolent actions will commence. NCNR is inviting marchers from various antiwar groups to represent a broad spectrum of communities around the country. The march is permitted, but some participants will risk arrest by trying to deliver the coffin to Secretary of War Donald Rumsfeld or undertaking other nonviolent civil resistance actions. If we're going to end this war, it is going to take something radically different than putting our hopes and energies into "leaders" who in fact support the war. It will take setting into motion a different political dynamic by relying on mobilizing the independent political actions of millions of people, based on consistently sticking to principle and opposing a war that is unjust, illegitimate and immoral. Think about what it took to end the Vietnam War - massive opposition around the world and inside the US, and large-scale defection inside the military. While this is a different war in a whole different (and more dangerous) context, the example of a movement acting with a conscience and spreading throughout society is certainly something to learn from.

…The point is this: history is full of examples where people who had right on their side fought against tremendous odds and were victorious. And it is also full of examples of people passively hoping to wait it out, only to get swallowed up by a horror beyond what they ever imagined. The future is unwritten. WHICH ONE WE GET IS UP TO US.

A Call for a Week of Local Action: March 15-22, 2006

March 19th will mark the third anniversary of a war that never should have happened
-- a war based on lies that continues to devastate the lives of thousands,
both in Iraq and the United States.

United for Peace and Justice joins our partners in the global antiwar movement
in callingfor a massive outpouring of opposition to the war in Iraq.
We are urging opponents of the war to organize a wide array of events in their
hometowns for the entire week surrounding this anniversary.

Some highlights: On March 15, UFPJ will join MediaChannel to kick off the week
of peace and justice events with a National Day of Local Media Protest.
On March 16, youth and students all over the country will stand up against 3 years
of unnecessary war and its impact on their generation.
During the week leading up to the 19th, two important marches --
the Veterans and Survivors March for Peace and Justice from Mobile to New Orleans
and Peregrinacion por la Paz from Tijuana to San Francisco -- will be underway,
each dramatically demonstrating how the war in Iraq is destroying our communities at home.

March 18 & 19, 2006 will mark the third anniversary of the invasion of Iraq. The Troops Out Now Coalition calls on the entire antiwar community at the local and national level to rise above anything that would hinder the unity that the world and history demands of us. Together we must grasp the opportunity to help transform the turning tide against the war into a human tidal wave of antiwar resistance in the streets.

On the weekend of March 18 & 19, TONC joins with all who are calling for coordinated mass actions coast to coast and around the world. TONC proposes that the movement jointly target military recruiting stations all across the country on this weekend with coordinated protests, especially neighborhood recruiting stations in poor communities and communities of color. We can shut the war down, and the way to start is by shutting down military recruiting.

In the New York City region we call on activists to protest in the morning at the recruiting office on 125th Street in Harlem as well as other neighborhood recruiting offices.

Three years ago the United States went to war in Iraq -- a war based on lies that continues to destroy the lives of thousands, both in Iraq and the United States. More than 2,300 U.S. service people have been killed and thousands have come home with horrible wounds they will carry for the rest of their lives. Estimates of Iraqi deaths number in the tens of thousands, and more Iraqis are killed every day.

The war has already cost well over $230 billion in U.S. taxpayer money. Meanwhile, our government has cut food programs, Medicaid, farm and school aid and says there is no money for Social Security, education and healthcare. Our wages are falling and our environment is deteriorating. Communities around the country are impacted every day by drastic cuts in social spending. And the war has brought new assaults on civil liberties and democratic rights.

Yet, Congress continues to find the money to give huge tax cuts to the rich. At a time when working people are struggling just to pay bills, the wealthy have never had it better.

Three years of persistent anti-war organizing are having a significant political impact. A majority of people in the United States now agree with the peace movement that this war never should have happened, and calls for immediate withdrawal of all U.S. troops from Iraq are growing. More members of Congress, retired generals and state department officials, newspaper editorial boards and people from all walks of life are demanding the truth and calling for an end to the war.

Sunday, March 19th, will be the 3rd anniversary of the invasion of Iraq.

Thousands of Americans have given up their lives and body parts in this conflict. Come help us honor our friends, neighbors and loved ones who have given the ultimate sacrifice.

Event will be open from 10 am to 5 pm at Marshall Park in downtown Ocean Springs. Memorial Service starts at noon.

We will have a small cemetery set up honoring our fallen Mississippi soldiers. There will be a "Free Speech Zone" that includes a Sit-Down Discussion Circle and a Soap Box for Citizens.

Please take time out of your busy schedule to be involved.

Here is the article concerning the Fayetteville/Fort Bragg protest on Saturday for Sunday's Fayetteville Observer.

Note that it says that the director of Quaker House "put the total at 4,800. That would make Saturday's protest the biggest peace demonstration in Fayetteville's history. An anti-war rally at the same park during the Vietnam War drew a crowd estimated at 2,000 to 4,000 people."

NOTE: The Observer tends to have a view slanted toward providing 'support' for the military community. What exacly it means to 'support' and what form that support takes is certainly debatable. They have a valuable contract for printing "The Paraglide," the Fort Bragg newspaper for the post community.
