I'm calling "the boss" right now. He can't let Russ twist in the wind like this. The ONE opportunity for the Dems to show some strength and where the fuck is this clown?! Polishing some slot machine somewhere?

I'm pissed off. If a republican had done something like this, all his colleagues would have stood up behind him and given a big thumbs up. These pussy-ass Dems wouldn't know a political opportunity (and a chance to actually IMPROVE things) if it bit them in the taint.

I've already called Durbin's office, told them to pass a copy along to Obama. Then I told them in Durbin's office (especially since he's Asst. Leader) to push Reid in that direction.

Phone: 202-224-3542 / Fax: 202-224-7327

Here's a little ditty you can send him.

Dear Mr. Reid

Because of your failure to support Russ Feingold, I am sending you this donation of $2000 in monopoly money. You see, your lack of support caused me to rethink how I would support you in the future. And since you don't believe it is your responsibility to represent ALL Americans, I felt it un-necessary to send you real money.

Best regrads, may your defeat in the next election be swift and certain

8. Reid needs to go. I'm tired of people make excuses for him.
Since Harriet Miers he has shown himself to be totally clueless.

I've heard Democrats here twist themselves into human pretzels trying to explain the political "strategery" of this dufus.

It's time for some real leadership in our party, and a milquetoast like Reid is NOT what is needed right now.

Calling up Reid's office (and Durbin's.) They can't get away with this shit. There's a huge number of people out there with NO political representation in our government. Our own party leaders act like they ENJOY getting screwed in the ass....

13. I just left him a long message at the DC number
And I didn't leave my phone number, I refuse to talk to one of his flunkies or be solicited for donations. The gist was, you represent ALL of the people, not the special interests in Nevada, and as our former President said, either figure out a way to fight these people (the ConJobs) or get out of the way and find something else to do. His failure to support Russ Feingold is beyond being a chickenshit.:grr:

18. Good!
Mine was basically the same....I'll try again though.

My message was this: there are millions upon millions of people out there who are not represented politically in Washington. Our party leaders happily accept our donations, our kind words, and our votes, but they're not giving us anything in return. And wjhen one of their number acts like an actual representative of the people, the rest shoot him down. This is NOT how America is supposed to work, blah blah blah.

I'm trying Durbin's office next, then Obama's. Then I'll go down the alphabet....

19. Feingold deserves to "twist". He voted to impeach Clinton rather then
censure him.

And yet Feingold calls impeachment of Bush 'radical' as compared to censure.

Why?

Because impeachment begins in the House and he's a Senator. So rather then allowing Conyers to proceed and get ducks in a row for after 2006... he jumps the gun trying to get grassroot activists in his corner for 2008.

Feingold is short-sighted, intellectually inconsistent and mainly acting from his own self-interest.

ya got to ride with whomever has the wheels, and at the moment, he has 'em. What is with waiting? Where does it get anyone of us? More time for the ConJobs to formulate a plan to shoot us down?

30. Russ, intellectually inconsistent?
Uh, wha?

He's not stopping Conyers from doing anything. He never voted to remove Clinton from office, ever. He might be calling it radical because it's impossible right now, and like it or not, the public might freak out over it so what's the point if we can't even go there until '06 anyway? And on top of it, he said it might be a radical step but they'd have to look at it. He never took it off the table at all. He's said censure is a first step. That implies more steps could be on the way. Why not call him or write him to ask him what he meant by it?

Maybe--just maybe--Russ is fed up and is doing what he can do from his spot in the Senate.

Here's his biography page from his website: http://feingold.senate.gov/news/biography.html
Here's where he stands on the issues: http://feingold.senate.gov/issues_index.html

Seems pretty right on to me.

31. That's a lie
Feingold voted to hear the facts, as anyone interested in justice would, then voted AGAINST impeachment.

Rollcalls (thanks to Mass for these):

http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=106&session=1&vote=00018
http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=106&session=1&vote=00017

And Feingold is right, impeachment is radical compared to censure. The two procedures are entirely different; in fact censure has no legal affect. Successful censure is the equivalent of putting a letter of reprimand in Bush**'s resume. Successful impeachment removes the President from office.
