Resources for evangelicals thinking of quitting the Repubs?

Where would you recommend sending them? Looking for kindred spirits here--they'll take the message better from someone like Randy Brinson than the Secular Humanist Society.

1. I always wondered if the Quakers would have any leverage

with the evangelicals or for that matter the Amish. It was the height of hypocrisy when Beast* campaigned in Ohio Amish country in 2004. Those people are pacifists, for Christ's sake!

2. They're adults, they can deprogram themselves...

and when they're done they can then (and only then) seriously consider leaving the republican party. They're being told how to vote at church and evengelicals have never been known for their independance and free thinkin'.

You're just going to have to hope that some evangelicals are willing to step away from the message. Any help you give opens you up to attack and the last thing you'd want I imagine is a large group of your peers questioning your faith by questioning your politics.

is a good resource. So is People for the American Way. Both of those groups have web sites that can be found via Google. And a less commercially slick but very informative web site is http://www.liberalslikechrist.org/.

5. liberal Christian resources

I would recommend books by Jim Wallace like "God's Politics." There is a great new religion radio show on Air American: State of Belief (5:00 p.m. Sundays Eastern Time) with Rev. Welton Gaddy. His group, the Interfaith Alliance, is very cool. Christians need to know that there are many of us out here who are not right-wing fascists.
