7. Even better - thanks
from an othe thread:

Anti-abortion activists in Ole Miss debate the wisdom of a frontal assault on Roe v. Wade.
Newsweek

March 20, 2006 issue - When "Jane" discovered a few weeks ago that she was pregnant, she nearly collapsed. She already has four kids, ages 6 to 18, to raise on her own, while working full-time as a housekeeper. "I'm struggling trying to take care of them," said the 33-year-old Vicksburg, Miss., native, who gave a fictitious name to protect her privacy. "I'm not financially able" to handle a fifth child. So she turned to what had always been, for her, an unthinkable and morally repugnant option: abortion. On her way in to the Jackson Women's Health Organization in Mississippi last week, anti-abortion protesters descended on her, imploring her not to "murder" her unborn baby. "It isn't that we're selfish, heartless people," she said once inside, her eyes brimming with tears. "When you have that baby, those people aren't going to be around to pay for Pampers or day care."

an ex-football player who knew Pat Tillman and joined up in the Army after Tillman was killed. At that time I don't believe it was known that it was by "friendly" fire.

Well this dolt said that he accepted Jesus in his heart and decided to join the Army because of his being born again. I wanted to vomit. There has been so much freeking blood shed in Christ's name... these people don't have a clue. I was born a Jew, tend towards Buddhism and Paganism, and am more "Christian" than any single one of them.

22. It's your prerogative, but images such as those and abortion pics
traumatize very young children, and causes them unneeded fear. Many times they literally begin to think that they will be the next to die.

Wars are the responsibility of adults to face, not little children. but that of course is my own opinion. even in a war zone, parents will do what they can to keep fear away from them as much as humanly possible.

38. I was not traumatized when I saw pictures
of Polish victims of Hitlers War in a European magazine when I was a young child. My parents weren't aware that I had seen the pictures and they explained to me the reality of war. I didn't harbor any fear, it was a lesson to me that war is an evil reality and consequently I have been anti-war all of my life. During WW2 Life magazine printed graphic pictures of war dead and the horrors of war. Suppressing truth is ultimately harmfull.

39. My experience was different. As I say, it's a choice we each make.
When I was five, a television report on a plane crash carried footage of the mangled corpse of an unfortunate soul. That image remained an unreasonable fear throughout my childhood in the form of an ankle-grabbing power beneath the bed. Even in rational adulthood when reason would override it, my mind insisted on informing me of the imminent danger beneath the mattress.

At age thirteen we were shown a film on WWII and the concentration camps. My mind was able to process the information in a rational way. On that day, the world was no longer the place I had imagined it to be. It was shocking, it was sorrowful. I remember it to this day, and that is as it should be.

At that time, my concern was for the "other" rather than a very young child's immediate fear for the self that is so much a part of being very young.

There are those children who may be so advanced in psychological and intellectual growth that they are able to rationally process violent images of war at the age of four or five, but most at this stage will not be. And that is why I would not choose to carry such images in an open forum where they may be exposed to them, leaving a parent to explain to a child not yet able to rationally process the emotions and information.

As I say, I don't believe war is a responsibility for young children to yet face in such a graphic way. Each child would be different of course, but perhaps the age of ten or eleven would be around average to have the harsher reality revealed by putting images in place.

As for images in newspapers and magazines, they are the province of adults and consumption can be controlled. The war dead are not to be seen in say, "Highlights" magazine for some of the reasons I write of.

A father driving his five and seven year-olds to the skating rink who happen upon a protest where any graphic images are displayed effectively take the choice away from that parent.

Can you recall the age at which you saw graphic images of war? Did you see images of dead children who were your own age? My sense is that you may have been one of the children who were capable of processing violence in a rational way. It would seem clear from your communication that this was the case.

Nothing against orthodox Chrstianity - I am a Christian and I believe in the way of Christ. But you gotta remember, these pro-Bush Christians will excuse ANYTHING the man says or does - and I mean ANYTHING.

Case in point, I emailed out a message the other day critical of Bush for inviting the porn star to dinner to give her an award for "business woman of the year." What did one respondent on our list say? "Well Jesus dined with sinners! I see nothing wrong with this."

Remember, you are dealing with a CULT here. I'm talkin' major phychology at play. They are brainwashed folks in a cult, and Bush is their sinless, perfect, God-ordained leader. Anyone outside the cult is unsaved, and anyone who DARES criticize their leader inside the cult is labeled a heritic. That's the way it is.

I think I may have influenced one person out of this cult, but I'm not sure yet.

FROM NOW ON, refer to it as THE CULT OF BUSH. Because that's what it is.

37. Showing these pictures is not a waste.
Many people who don't support the 'war' don't have internet access and will never see these phots on TV or their news outlets. These pictures of innocents should be available to for all to see what Bush's War has done. The graphic pictures should be plastered everywhere, on every telephone pole and doorknob. I saw graphic pictures of Polish victims of Hitlers War when I was a child. I believe seeing those graphic results of war instilled in me a long lasting belief that war was absolutely evil.

Can you imagine?

Can you imagine a country invading our nation, stealing our resources, and killing our children (and all our people)?

Who wouldn't go crazy at losing their CHILDREN?

My God. The arrogance of those who are willing to go to war because there MIGHT be threat to them at some foggy future date. The utter inhumanity at those who say - 'we thought they were a threat. Opps!'. People don't even bother to educate themselves on facts. Blindly follow a moron and liar into a war. Support it to support the troops.

41. Update on this report
Iraqi police report details civilians' deaths at hands of U.S. troops
BY MATTHEW SCHOFIELDKnight Ridder NewspapersBAGHDAD, Iraq

- Iraqi police have accused American troops of executing 11 people, including a 75-year-old woman and a 6-month-old infant, in the aftermath of a raid last Wednesday on a house about 60 miles north of Baghdad.

The villagers were killed after American troops herded them into a single room of the house, according to a police document obtained by Knight Ridder Newspapers. The soldiers also burned three vehicles, killed the villagers' animals and blew up the house, the document said.

A U.S. military spokesman, Major Tim Keefe, said that the U.S. military has no information to support the allegations and that he had not heard of them before a reporter brought them to his attention Sunday.

"We're concerned to hear accusations like that, but it's also highly unlikely that they're true," he said. He added that U.S. forces "take every precaution to keep civilians out of harms' way. The loss of innocent life, especially children, is regrettable."
