1. It's for real
Somehow the CNN people picked up the transmission and broadcast it.

17. Around this week he was in France
8:19 p.m. ET Feb. 21, 2005
BRUSSELS, Belgium - Only months after he criticized countries “like France,” President Bush was lavish in his praise of French President Jacques Chirac, one of the sharpest critics of the U.S.-led war in Iraq.

“I’m looking for a good cowboy,” Bush said Monday when a French reporter asked him whether relations had improved to the point where the U.S. president would be inviting Chirac to the U.S. president’s ranch in Texas.....

However, this may not be CNN tape, it could be French, or another European news recording, for it took place in France.

34. This Fox clip is different
But there is one from CNN where the same thing was happening. It was during an outdoor speech in France, some time ago.

2. Could that have been doctored? It sure sounded like
he's just repeating lines. If that's true, we are in deepe.... Belay that, if that's true, I'm not surprised, only surprised it was caught on tape.

3. Seems doctored to me.
Sounds like Bush's own voice recorded, then distorted a bit, and then played a fraction of a second before he speaks.

I doubt that such a voice in his ear at that pace and in that sequence could do anything but confuse him further.

18. Here's one of the comments on that page:
"Did you notice you are getting the questions as well? What you are hearing is an error in the broadcast. You are seeing the president and hearing him on a delay imposed by CNN, the "preliminary" voice is the actual satellite feed. Search on if you are looking for some sort of conspiracy."

As inviting as that video clip is, I'm ALWAYS skeptical of such "over the top" stuff. The above sounds pretty convincing. I'll go with it, barring compelling evidence to the contrary.

was in May 2005 as posted above.

12. Yeah, exactly.
Possibly a result of a very natural occurrence of the audio track being delayed to sync with the video signal, and the live audio feed bleeding through.

We have some audio engineers here. I'll page one.

.... but I don't know. He goes to an earpiece in the video that is for sure.

In late summer of 2004 I did hear something just like this ...... but it was on CNN.
Funny it should show up now. Is bush being thrown under the bus?

11. I'm sure that's not doctored- it was a huge stink at the time and somebody
had the direct clip on his website (can't remember who right now) and his disk drive crashed. I'm glad to see it resurface.

I also did a correlary clip of the same thing and I can tell you I DID NOT DOCTOR THIS CLIP-I was watching CNN at the time and heard how weird it was, so I recorded it. Watch John whatsisname at the end shaking his head:)

26. Whoa...that was wierd. It kind of sounded like
the audio was echoing BEFORE he spoke on the video. Not sure how that could happen from the CNN tape. I wonder if it was recorded that way on CNN's actual recording. Hmmm....

27. That's what I'm saying- I was sitting there watching the television
and Bush's voice (at least that's who I think it was) echoed BEFORE he spoke. In hearing it, it definitely sounded like his voice, so maybe he pre-recorded what he was going to say and was playing it back, but it messed up.

Anyway, that's the feed from CNN as shown on my tv.

29. Not doctored -
but you can hear the "prompter" voice saying 'uh' and other vocalizations EXACTLY like what Bush babbles a second later.

Tape delay is what this is. I am a recording engineer, by the way.

13. Interesting to find the orginal source of the tape.
I have no doubt this possibly could of occurred,
in other times where we have seen him with his back pack
and caught him at it.

However, I would like to see the original source of this tape in order to analyze it more thoroughly.

25. I heard it live - if you believe this is "coaching" rather than a doubled
audio stream, then you must also believe that the reporter in the Q&A at the end was also prompted in his own voice. If you believe all that, well, let me tell you about the alien lizard beings who rulew the planet Earth.

28. This is an audio glitch
Though I have no doubt that he's being coached through an earpiece most of the time, that was NOT Karen Hughes voice.

32. I have to agree...it's an audio glitch
And the thingy in his ear was probably a translator translating what Chirac was saying in French.

30. Here's the first thing I noticed...
Take it for what it's worth.

The third phrase you hear is the ghost audio "I look forward to working with President Chirac..."

Then Bush says "I look working forward, look forward to working with President Chirac..."

31. I'm an Audio Engineer, in a TV Studio. Here's my $.02.
We have no way of knowing what the signal to Bushes IFB (Interruptable FoldBack, you know, the thingy in his ear) was. Just because some crossover audio was recorded someplace, it doesn't mean that that's what Bush was hearing.

I've worked a lot of multi-lingual events and there are all kinds of signals flying all over the place.

It's quite possible, that the background audio in the clip was just a translator feed to English speaking Media.

On other hand.....coaching on IFB happens. Not a lot, especially to people who are good public speakers, but it happens anyway.

I'd say this clip is inconclusive.
