37. He might run, but he won't get the nomination.
I just don't see it. He's not a neo-con.

2. I have a feeling the freepers don't trust him - and for good reason.
He blows with the wind and makes a total fool out of himself in the process. He's really too old and feeble looking to me. I don't trust him either.

14. I've always thought him a fool and a coward.
How could anyone let the BFEE use racist tactics against one's own child and still walk the party line?

Despicable.

3. His face looks lopsided and swollen.
I know he had some sort of skin cancer thing with his face. Is he on chemo or something? I've wondered about his health. His left side of his face looks puffy and swollen and larger than his right. (His left, not yours.) Then again the scary looking thing next to Puffy McCain in the last picture looks deadish.

I feel for the guy - he was an American hero. But whatever is going on with his face looks very serious.

19. It is, that is where he had the melanoma
even though politically I disagree with him on most issues, he has been through some difficult times, and I do NOT wish him ill

I personally believe we could beat mccain on the issues if we would just stand for liberal progressive ideas, instead of being afraid to commit

15. he had a very serious form of skin cancer, melanoma
doesn't necessarily mean he isn't responding to treatment or won't run

For him the positive health news is that after several years he is still dealing with it

This form of skin cancer usually spreads quite quickly if it isn't discovered early

No, I do NOT wish him or anyone ill from this terrible disease

I just would NOT rule him out based on the picture. He may be in remission

41. He has MELANOMA (the bad version of skin cancer)
and the last surgery he had, was to remove a large chunk of flesh near his ear. The surgery messed up the lymph system that helps drain fluids, so the tissues stay engorged with fluid..that's the "chipmunky result" that keep his face swollen..

I have a friend with melanoma, and she never knows where and when it will pop up again.. She was "cancer free" for about 5 years, then bam.. a "spot on her back" required a removal of tissue about the size of your fist.. At his age, he probably only has about 10-15 years anyway, and the cancer might be kept at bay the whole time..or maybe not..

I feel bad for him. He's a decent guy, except when he supports Bush. But I don't see how he can take on a presidential campaign.

23. Could be bad plastic surgery
to repair operations on his recurrent melanoma -- but it does look like more than that. Possibly infection?

If it is non-threatening and he has it cosmetically fixed in the next year -- he WILL run. The media LOVES him and already makes sure his "good" side is facing the cameras in all interviews.

He is just as conservative as Dumbya, but a bit smarter and projects a competence that probably isn't there. He would not be good to or for America notwithstanding his marginally better attitude on the environment and lobbyists as to campaign finance.

the strong opinion was that Hillary WILL be the Dem nominee, she has the most money and clout, running against McCain. I think it was Ted Rall? saying that. Something was mentioned that nominees are picked four years in advance?

26. I don't think so
I think Vietnam might have been the reason he is ill, but this is not an injury, it seems more like an illness. He is an American hero and I like the guy although I would never vote for him. But I think there is something serious going on with his health that will preclude him from running.

I think that is what the poster was referring to. Or else he was just making it up, like I did about the truck. McCain has skin cancer and he don't look to good.

32. Maybe the BFEE put a curse on McCain.
 And don't you mean that McCain has excellent health care courtesy of the American taxpayers, many of whom can't afford even a smidgen of the same for themselves, and members of Congress won't extend what they demand for themselves, to us? :argh: If it's good enough for members of Congress, why isn't it good enough for us?

33. From the first time I saw him
I was sure he had facial implants when I first saw him. The kind that were popular in the 80-90s, like Fabio has. If the Melanoma has reoccurred then it is likely in every organ in his body by now. And it will reoccur sometime down the line.

42. Interesting, on West Wing Vinick caught a cold,
and they were discussing how that would affect his campaign - considering "some" people questioned whther his age and health would be a factor in the campaign.

Those West Wing writers almost seem prescient.
