Just asking...

I notice that 'bashing' threads get the most action and I'm wondering...is that REALLY what we want to focus upon? Bash the Dems in Congress, bash religion (not that I'm a big fan of revealed religion, but...still...), bash the DLC, bash freepers, bash candidates (present and former), and, sometimes, even other DUers (bad juju). Is that all we want to do?

I write a lot of positive, uplifting stuff. Things that we can use to reach out to the other side and the disaffected. I've gotten many, many positive responses and I thank each and every one of you who've contributed them.

But I'd really like to see a little more effort to take a positive tone on stuff. It's not all doom and gloom, folks. There IS hope. Lots of hope.

That's really what we want to offer people, isn't it? Hope for the future? Without it, none of this is worth a damn.

So, if you haven't already, please go and read my latest essay. I'm not asking for kicks or nominations... I'll settle for a bit of discussion.

But please, keep doing what you're doing. Don't give up. More people read than post, and if one person gets something out of it, then you've done a good thing. IMHO, just writing it was a good deed and a good thing.

That having been said, here are some things I've found during my 11000+ posts here at the very big tent we call DU:

1) People respond to bold letters and

pretty boxed text. :)

2) There are many Drama Queens among us.
3) It's gonna get worse before it gets better.
4) We sometimes eat our own.
5) Never Give Up.

that all in all the ones that were long essays, and that I was proud of, sank like stones.

I have been on the greatest pages several times, but nothing that's worth keeping. Smartass, bombastic, jokey stuff only. Mostly sarcasm. Or posting someone else's article.

So my journal is the stuff I wish people had read and liked, but didn't.
