Man that was funny, they showed everything.

Warning: If the sight of a Pheasant being shot is disturbing to you, don't watch the Replay at 1:00am.

Oh, and Natalie Portman is the Guest!

2. Yes, those "caned Hunts" are even more lame than I had imagined
I can't believe that they let you rent a Pointer Dog to find the Quail for you. :eyes:

4. I was left thinking "what's the f**kin' point?"
Edited on Wed Mar-15-06 11:31 PM by stevietheman
I mean, what's the point of this kind of "hunting"? It's almost like it's a close cousin of chickenhawks playing their war games with other people's lives.

7. God, I thought that at least the birds were stocked in a field,
not carried there in boxes and stuffed into the tall grass to be "flushed out" with a kick in the tail feathers by the hunting guide. And for that they had to pay $1000? Some people simply have way more money than morals.

10. What kind of man "hunts" like that?
Edited on Thu Mar-16-06 01:29 AM by Opposite Reaction
The poorest kind of man. A cruel man. A man who kills not for sport or food but for pure pleasure. There is no sport in what Nate showed us tonight. It's just death.

It takes a cowardly man to be involved in such mindless killing.

Cheney is such a man.

I declare tonight to all that the deaths of innocent Iraqis are not a consequence of a failed policy. I say that the death toll of innocents in Iraq are deliberately exacerbated by men such as Cheney. I really believe that they enjoy the killing. It's not just chaos as a cover to steal.

The pictures of lynchings in the 1920-30s south. The pictures of joyful white faces around tortured black corpses. The postcards made from those pictures thoughtfully sent to those who could not attend, on a convenient rack at the drugstore. The people smiling in those pictures. That's who they are. They did not go away after the 1960s. They quietly took over.

11. I was horrified!
I thought "canned" hunts meant they went onto a preserve where the animals were running around. What they showed was absolutely disgusting! It was literally like shooting fish in a barrel. How the fuck is that considered "hunting?!"

I am glad they did the piece because he shows the stupidity of canned hunts and it showed me what they really mean when they say "canned hunt" = "too damn lazy to actually employ the skills needed for hunting!"

12. I have a parrot, so I was doubly horrified
What sport is this,? Senseless killing, and in Cheney's case...70 quail? Oh, and Cheney was shooting from a vehicle.

Yes, it pointed out the senselessness of this sport, but it tore my heart out.

15. And did you see the price list? For $25.00 each, you can shoot Ducks!
I loved FEEDING Ducks bread down at the pond as a child.

Just the thought them slaughtering pen raised Ducks is horrifying. :puke:

16. It was nice that the audience was horrified when that pheasant was shot
Well, maybe not HORRIFIED, but I listened to it twice (yay my PVR box!) and they went "awwww...." As did I. I was kind of sad that Nate didn't say "Wait, guys, I was just kidding, don't actually kill anything." But it was an excellent story nonetheless; it really made a point about the kind of "hunting" this is.

17. I noticed the audience disappointment
It was difficult to watch, for me. He did make a good point in showing how actually
UNSPORTSMANLIKE it is to shoot living animals in this manner.

I could never be friends with someone who participates in this so called sport. Nor could
I ever be married to one.

the dog.

He took it long. :)

19. Nate Is Adorable -
the whole left, right, up, down on the gun was very funny -

It sure put the kibosh on the idea as hunting as a sport - how sick to kill birds like that and call it a sport.
