Substitute the word Terrorist for the word Communist...

I watched Good Night and Good Luck again last night and it struck me that the GOP is following McCarthy's playbook to the letter. If you listen to all McCarthy's speeches and substitute the word Terrorist for the word Communist you have exactly the same witch hunt now that went on in the 50's. Of course you could also substitute the word Liberal. Watching the GOP get away with this again is adding weight to a load I am already overburdened with. I am just so tired of getting my hopes up only to have them dashed at my feet. What is it going to take? I see only 2 ways to turn the tide. One is a sex scandal, the other... revolution. Barring those two things I can't see Bush not finishing his last few years and putting the final nail in the coffin that was once America.

McCarthy was tossed and we eventually threw out the House Un-American Activities Committee.

They're a lot slicker about doing things now, but there is always hope we'll wake up again like we did the last time.

touted "honest" media of the past, like the Hearst papers, weren't to eager to jump on this particular bandwagon at the time.

Where were Cronkite, Reasoner, and the rest of the "heros" out there digging into McCarthy's drunken rantings? How long did they stay silent about the blacklist, the accusations about the state department, the hearings....

5. The good news: poll numbers are in the toilet.

* is at the lowest in middle America, specifically Indiana,
since 1964 w/37%, according to a journalist from the state's capital tonight
on Scarborough's show. White males make up the majority of the disillusioned.
Hope abounds, and I heard this on Scarborough, some r/w media.

We may squeek by in November, but what we need is a reformation.

are the balance, say 60%, not bad numbers.

13. Actually not. I have seen some polls that show it more around

50 % at best. And it is not strong support. It is the support of people who do not like Bush, but it is not a firm groundswell. The Dems are going to have to take stronger stands and show unity around the things that matter most to people. Their message needs to get clearer, stronger and persistent.

6. Nothing will happen until the Repugs make it happen

The way that the Democrats are running from Feingold should make it clear that they are total wimps, probably because they all suckle from the same nipples that corporate American presents to the Repugs. They are all nipple-mates.

When the Repugs decide that Bush is hurting their agenda Bush will be dumped, and the Repugs will appear stronger for the effort while the Democrats, who should be leading the damn fight, will be shouting encouraging things while they cower in the corner.

I am so angry right now with our party. If we can't effectively hit The Idiot while he is at 30 something percent in the polls then we can't possibly effectively govern in his place. This is a screw up of huge proportions in every way.
