Anti-war rally staged for Saturday in Fayetteville (FR permit revoked, park given to leftists)

FAYETTEVILLE) - Fayetteville is known as a town that supports the military, but there are some there who support bringing the troops home now.

The city has had an anti-war rally at Rowan Park every year since the war began, but that almost didn't happen this year.

The park might have been quiet Wednesday afternoon, but by Saturday, crowds will fill be filling up the park. Just like in previous years, protestors will stage an anti-war rally, marking the third anniversary of the U.S.-led invasion into Iraq.

This year’s event would have looked a lot different if members of a pro-war group had been able to keep their reservation for the park.

"We had the park and we wanted to do something positive to support the troops families, but that wasn't as important as an anti-war protest which hurts the troops' families," said Lynn Huber, a member of the North Carolina chapter of the Free Republic.

missing from the above is this

"They said a member of Free Republic made the application for a 200-person picnic, but that person did so as a private citizen, so city officials didn't know the organization was involved."

So they planned to pull a fast one on the city, and the city found out... OK everybody  for the poor FReeprs.

5. The city got tipped off when there was an order for 12 Honey Buckets.

They just make it so easy. There claim to fame is armed guards at outhouses, after all.

I try to restrain myself from mocking them, I really try...

...but not very hard.

2. They've missed the message
"We had the park and we wanted to do something positive to support the troops families, but that wasn't as important as an anti-war protest which hurts the troops' families," said Lynn Huber, a member of the North Carolina chapter of the Free Republic.

What has hurt the troops families is the lies that got us into war in the first place, the lack of body armour, the lack of armoured vehicles to safely transport them, and the fact that we had no business sending troops over there in the first place.

I think anti-war protests are the best way to send a message that people DO care about the troops, by encouraging an end to this needless war and bringing them home to safety.

I still think we could do more to protect America here by beefing up our borders, enforcing visitor Visas, inspecting shipments before they reach our ports, and providing more eyes and ears on American streets. It would lower the risk of terrorist attacks, would snuff out crime in America, and might add a few jobs here in America instead of India.

I'm glad the Free Republic's permit was denied. Good for Fayetteville!

6. The thing that cracks me up are the posters about the "bomb sniffing dogs"
This coming from the followers of the "king of Drug addiction" himself. HEY FREEPS! Never smoked a joint in my life. I'm probably your next door neighbor or the woman you spoke with at the market. This is why stereotypes..even here...crack me up.

9. not sure I understand...
so the Freepers idea was to tie up the park without staging a counter rally?

Can anyone explain this --I don't understand the town's reaction.
