Pre-Emptive War, Massing Troops in Iraq, War Games in Korea, Iran=9/11

Why else is the drum beat going out right now about Bush having the power to pre-emptively strike other countries that have not attacked us unless he's planning to attack Iran shortly. And Rice told Congress a few months ago that Bush believes that he doesn't need a specific authorization to attack Iran, that the original Auth covers "War on Terror" and that includes any country that he deems is part of that.

I'm calling Congress today about this. Found this article , in which Congress is pushing back and asking for Bush have to GO TO CONGRESS in order to attack Iran. But it's not clear to me that that will really happen.

Congress needs to go on record, every single one of them, as to whether they approve Bush attacking Iran without specific Congressional auth.

2. They want war

but no one else wants to go along for the ride anymore. They are meeting resistance everywhere they go. If they go it alone it will be suicide.

fascinating that the culture of war is so deeply ingrained that no one seems to be able to stand up to this maniac intent on war.

Better we should go out and destroy two countries, now perhaps three, at great cost than be accused of being soft on defense, terrorism, or whatever. Maybe that we are broke, forces are stretched to the limit, and a draft would be necessary would cause Congress to put a lid on warmaking.

Maybe, but don't bet on it. Another half trillion to get mired in Iran, and then, after all this practice, we get to really go for broke with China over Taiwan.

And that's the end of the US. Every penny we have goes to endless war, which we will eventually lose.

I already know from watching Rice a few months ago at one of the hearings she had before Congress that some don't agree with her about Bush being able to just, at will, go strike other countries. I want to know EXACTLY who those people are.

7. I am more disturbed about this than Feingold not getting support

from the other Dems, not that that isn't a huge issue as well. But the idea that Bush can go around and attack other countries as part of, as you say, an endless war, without what used to be a reasonable justification of being attacked FIRST, must be loudly spoken up against. And I want to know WHICH congresspersons think that's just fine and dandy... before the 2006 elections.
