Largest Iraq Air Assault Since '03 Begins

BAGHDAD, Iraq - The United States on Thursday launched what was termed the largest air assault since the U.S.-led invasion, targeting insurgent strongholds north of the capital, the military said.

The U.S. military said Iraqi troops also were involved in the operation aimed at clearing a "suspected insurgent operating area northeast of Samarra."

"More than 1,500 Iraqi and Coalition troops, over 200 tactical vehicles, and more than 50 aircraft participated in the operation," the military statement said.

Samarra is 60 miles north of Baghdad.

How many innocent lives are going to be lost......how many more American soldiers killed?

Suspected is not the same as confirmed.....when the strike is over they will say that it was a mistake and they found no insurgents.....Will the madness ever end?

8. There was a release from the WH today, reaffirming its prerogative to
start preemptive wars. Why at this time???

9. These guys are so transparant....there is a method to their
madness.....

There is a reason...perhaps this will take the focus off of the looming removal of some of their self appointed powers.....

10. My biggest fear is the lack of support for Feingold's Resolution and they
will continue to grab more and more power, and then it will be too late for us.

7. How many innocents will we kill today 'by accident'
Just because we say 'oops' afterwards, doesn't make it right. They KNOW they will kill innocent people before they do this sort of thing. That's premeditated murder.

Doesn't matter how bad the 'insurgents' are, or what they do. There's no excuse -- that was already determined at Nuremberg, by our own judges, no less.

11. Nuremberg does not matter to this bunch
No matter what was determined at Nuremberg, our military will still use the excuse of "just following orders", just like the the SS did and just like William Calley did.

And as long as we the American people keep trying to seperate the Bush administration's and the US military's actions, to avoid critisizing the military, innocent blod will continue to be spilled in our name.

Those in the military truly believe that they are doing the right thing, a good thing, we have to try and convince them that they are as much a part of the evil of BushCo as Rumsfeld is. Until a good majority of the boots on the ground admit that they are not bringing democracy or freedom, but
death and destruction they will keep deploying wearing their rose colored glasses and denying what
is happening before their own eyes.

If you disagree with me fine, try to be courteous about it. If you agree then perhaps it's now time to stand up and say so.
