The majority don't want this, yet it's forced on them anyway. The people of South Dakota need to make sure everyone who supported this travesty are voted out.

we get treated to every time a group of politicians do something vile and stupid? These people are potential DEM voters if we go about it with some empathy and offer some solutions to the problems they know we face as a nation! MOST people know the junta and the fundamentalists are not making America better! Let's show them some good ideas instead of contempt.

That red state bashing thing plays right into Rove's hands. It gives the GOP fuel for their argument that DEMS are elitist snobs. It prevents our message from getting through to people who are actually hungry to hear it.

The people, we need to befriend. The people, we share much common ground with. The people are betrayed by their representatives locally just like they are nationally! Build bridges to THE PEOPLE and give them an alternative to the business as usual GOP/Fundy alliance!

I heard it on NPR this morning. They need something like 17,000 names by June 15 (I think) to get it on the ballot. Planned Parenthood hasn't decided whether or not it will join in the petition or start a lawsuit.

FYI - Some folks in SD are fighting to make sure that only SD residents be allowed to circulate the petition to allow SD residents to vote on the issue. Odd since the same people don't seem to have a problem with out of staters being involved in designing their laws.

Frankly, I believe this to be another cynical attempt to reach W's Supremes before the end of his 2nd term ... with the aim of overturning Roe v. Wade via a different rationale.
