What I think is wrong with the news media

Yesterday, CNN ran a report on the progress of people who are trying to rebuild their lives after Katrina. They interviewed a woman who had been tossed out of her hotel room, who said she now had nowhere to go and nowhere to live. A few moments later, the reporter who was narrating the segment said (I'm paraphrasing here) "the Bush administration says that no one is being forced out of their hotel rooms."

So he immediately contradicted an actual statement by someone who was on the scene and dealing with the situation. The woman obviously wasn't lying. Her possessions were around her. She had been kicked out.

That reporter basically spewed the Bush administration line of bullshit and lies, without even pretending to think about it. That's not just bad reporting. That's crazy.

3. The problem I see here...

...is that the reporter could (and should!) have said, "the Bush administration says that no one is being forced out of their hotel rooms, but this is self-evidently incorrect." This is actual reporting, as opposed to spewing the Bushite propaganda line, and it only requires the use of six more words.

Something is seriously wrong with our country, and I'll be damned if I can figure out how to fix it.

The problem is they are not hiring true journalist...they look for pretty faces and people that are willing to toe whatever line they are told...

The real journalist are no where to be found...David Gregory is one of the few but he lost points wiht me when he apologized for taking Scotty McFellon on for lying...

2. I shut off CNN an hour ago. I don't need entertainment news.

I need REAL news.

I don't care who is winning or losing on all of these silly "contest" shows. IT'S NOT IMPORTANT!

I want to know what's going on in the world and there's precious little information available about that.

5. Remember the white powder? Anthrax? Some members of the media.......

.....are just plain scared and in order to keep themselves on the right side of this criminal bunch they have to repeat the official story. Yet, as the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words and they know it.

7. If they were owned by the CIA, wouldn't they be perpetually failing?

The CIA isn't exactly known for its stellar record of performance. If the CIA was running the media for the benefit of the Republicans, the media would be running huge stories on the failures of the Bush administration, and would be pushing for Democrats to win in elections. :D

9. I meant that for many years the CIA has been able to get their

message out through the media. I didn't mean to say that the CIA was involved in the operations or the monetary profit.

8. LAZINESS. If they needed objectivity, they could have called on someone

involved with the agency that allegedly removed her to confirm or deny.

Note the use of "Bush administration" rather than the agency that would have been involved--in other words, the e-mail from the Heritage foundation's Press Room.
