Peggy Noonan Has Conned Herself-Would'nt of Voted For Bush If She'd Known
Peggy Noonan Realizes She Has Conned Herself--and Says That She Wouldn't Have Voted for Bush If She'd Known Who He Was

She looks at Bush fiscal policy and joins the Ancient, Occult, and Hermetic Order of the shrill, saying that if she'd known who George W. Bush really was she wouldn't have voted for him:

PEGGY NOONAN
Hey, Big Spender
Should we have known that President Bush would bust the budget?

Thursday, March 16, 2006 12:01 a.m. EST

This week's column is a question, a brief one addressed with honest curiosity to Republicans. It is: When George W. Bush first came on the scene in 2000, did you understand him to be a liberal in terms of spending?

The question has been on my mind since the summer of 2005 when, at a gathering of conservatives, the question of Mr. Bush and big spending was raised. I'd recently written on the subject and thought it significant that no one disagreed with my criticism. Everyone murmured about new programs, new costs, how the president "spends like a drunken sailor except the sailor spends his own money." And then someone, a smart young journalist, said, (I paraphrase), But we always knew what Bush was. He told us when he ran as a compassionate conservative. This left me rubbing my brow in confusion. Is that what Mr. Bush meant by compassionate conservatism?

That's not what I understood him to mean. If I'd thought he was a big-spending Rockefeller Republican--that is, if I'd thought he was a man who could not imagine and had never absorbed the damage big spending does--I wouldn't have voted for him.

WASHINGTON Mar 16, 2006 (AP)— The Senate voted Thursday to allow the national debt to swell to nearly $9 trillion, preventing a first-ever default on U.S. Treasury notes.

The bill passed by a 52-48 vote. The increase to $9 trillion represents about $30,000 for every man, woman and child in the United States. The bill now goes to President Bush for his signature.

6. At least 3 years too late, you stupid rethug,
You knew what he was in 2003, when there was more than enough time to give him the boot. But you, like every other rethug idiot, were too stupid to see through Rove's bullshit to understand what all of us knew full well.

Now, if you are really serious, what are you gonna do about it?

12. George Will points out in his column today
how "conservative" Bush was as governor of Texas:

As California's governor, Ronald Reagan used his line-item veto to cut an average of 2 percent from spending bills. The governor of Texas from 1995 through 2000 used his line-item veto on bills totaling $265.1 billion -- cutting just .043 percent from those bills that he said reflected his state's conservatism.

Ignorance of Bush's tax-cut and spend brand of governance (this is neither liberal or conservative, this is some kind of new hybrid ideology with the spending of someone with two months left to live and the restraint of an alcoholic) is no excuse. Peggy Noonan works for the Wall Street Journal and could have done some research herself. We all did research before the 2004 primaries I'm sure to decide which candidate we'd most like to see win, she could have done the same during the 2000 primary and would have seen how unconservative Bush is when it comes to the finances of governance.

15. Perhaps Democrats should devote more attention to this issue??
If Noonan and Will have such problems with it, it must be very important to a lot of conservatives. How can they call themselves "conservatives" and vote for such spending?

17. An Admission Of Stupidity?
How could she not know? She didn't know he ran two companies into bankruptcy? Nobody in the repub establishment knew so they could tell her? This is a mea culpa based upon a lie, because she's now admitting she was duped, and that he was even worse than she imagined he might be. She knew he would be bad. Just not this bad. And she voted for him anyway.

And, btw: After the first term she didn't figure it out?

20. As governor, * bankrupted TX. It was as plain as day, but oh poor Peg
just didn't see it! Well, shit, Peggy, a fellow journalist named Molly Ivins wrote a whole book on what * did to Texas, didn't you bother to read it? Of course you did. But back then you thought (and probably still think) that it's OK for Pubs to bankrupt the country. You adored that big spender Reagan, didn't you? You wrote a whole book about the years you spent in his White House.

Oh, by the way, liberals NEVER spend like you pukes -- so stop shopping that wornout expression around - "spending like a librul" -- people are finding out exactly who the destructive bastards are, and it's you and your bunch.

The last time I checked, the rest of the Republican party was going along for the ride. Maybe it's the Republican party as a whole that's a problem here, Mrs Noonan.

23. Peggy Noonan came from a working class family,
that's why her bloviating about Reagan and Bush angers me so much.

The worst thing that could ever be said about a first or second generation Irish immigrant family that had success in the US years ago, was "they forgot where they came from". In fact, that is still true to some extent today.

Peggy Noonan completely forgot where she came from or was ashamed of it..

Cry me a river Peggy, you get no sympathy from me.
