Drug trial doctor reveals 'unique' symptoms

Drug trial ignored guideline on safety

A VOLUNTEER who escaped the drug test disaster told last night how he saw six healthy young men turn into wailing wrecks within minutes.

Human guinea pig Raste Khan — who did not know he had been given a harmless placebo in the test — said it was like a horror film unfolding before his eyes.

The 23-year-old TV technician added:

The test ward turned into a living hell minutes after we were injected. The men went down like dominoes.

13. Can't we get a few doses of this for the Bush Crime Family and others?
Of course, this is ::sarcasm::

However, you must see "V for Vendetta," the new science fiction movie opening on Friday, March 17. It has a scene of people getting injections -- the movie is thought-provoking, well written, and it makes you wonder -- but ultimately, I felt some hope!

<snip>

The head of trainee plumber Ryan Wilson, 21, is three times its normal size and his limbs are purple. Doctors said his chances of survival were slim.

Another victim, a 28-year-old Asian man, was said to “look like The Elephant Man”.

A frantic global race to find a “cure” was launched yesterday.

The patients’ blood was being filtered every HOUR in a bid to remove any possible toxins.

<snip>

“He can’t even move his eyelids. This machine is pumping out his lungs and his face is puffed out like The Elephant Man. A day ago he was fine and now they are saying he could die at any moment.”

She added: “The doctors say they are in the dark because they don’t know the drug or what it can do. They don’t know what they are dealing with.”

sign up for these drug tests. I saw a guy from the test group interviewed on CNN this AM. He said he didn't really read the 12 pages of documents that he had to sign in order to be admitted to the test group. Still, this sounds like it was a nightmare. :scared:

4. These were healthy young men, can you imagine if they tried this drug
on some older person desperate for arthritis relief.

6. The thought is simply horrible.
I wonder how many drug tests turn out so badly? :scared:

9. Severe reactions that come so quickly
are caught in the animal phase...so this is very strange.

This is one of those created biological drugs...so could there be some odd thing that made it react only in humans?

I bet the animal testing data will be looked at very closely. Would they have been greedy enough to have fudged any? That seems crazy and I doubt it. But the one that killed several people recently (not immediately) was one of those creations that cost patients $24,000 a year. It was already on the market for MS, though those who died were part of the studies. The drugs were pulled but the FDA just voted to let it go back to market.

This drug was for MS, arthritis and more. A bigger market, likely same price.

A comment at the link said there was a report of a dead dog. One? Don't know if it was true of course.

But this is really strange. Unheard of in modern times.Sometimes you hear of some dying further into a study but never an immediate reaction like this.

Maybe a "bad batch?" Very bad.

May they be restored to health. So many comments said they took the chance and ot paid...but no one would expect anything like this. Usually it's nausea, dizziness, an uncomfortable side effect.

This is a horror. I hope it works out...

I have to think they'll be having harder times getting people to volunteer for studies now.

15. I guess a human is only worth 4 grand these days. Good grief, you
can't even bury someone for that amount. With this mis-administration in power we aren't worth a plug nickle unless we are millionaires. I know this was in England but we all know how much power * gave to these freaking drug companies. Just a matter of time before it happens here.

14. Portland, OR must be a hot-bed for these kinds of human trials.
Various research facilities are almost constantly seeking people for clinical drug trials. Just this week, I've heard of ones for incontinence, menopause, erectile dysfunction and depression. And I'm not looking for them -- they are in the newspaper and on cable TV and I happen to see them.
