I know it is not much, but I am lighting a candle tonight for the Iraqi people and the bombs that they have endured today:cry:. I have done this in the past but I am feeling especially helpless and guilty for not being able to do something, and the fact that my tax $$'s are paying for this just has me sick to my stomach today.:cry:

History is not gonna judge us good on this one, no matter if you voted for * or not we are all responsible for this.:cry:


I know it is not much, but please light a candle tonight and say a prayer.:cry:

I have been sick at heart too. You just know they didn't move any civilians out of the area for fear of giving things away to whoever they're after. There are a lot of innocent folks being hurt and slaughtered as we sit here.

I too, have been sick to my stomach thinking about what is being done in our name, with our money to the innocents of Iraq.

My heart is so heavy and no matter how many phone calls you make or letters you have written it never seems to be enough. Our voices are not listened to, not even by our own party. I share your helplessness and guilt.

told of a Iraqi pharmacist who is in FL telling of the horror over there - the fact that her hospital has one hour of electricity and water a day and unless a person has at least a 70% chance of living they don't have the resources to help. I had to turn it off and actually cried myself to sleep at the horror we have brought on these people - and then I hear about the bombing today - it never stops

I will light a candle - my heart breaks more every day and I feel so helpless - I just want to find someone to stop these mad men.

There is so much insanity, that I've almost reached the point where I've accepted that there is only suffering and madness, and it will always be so, unless the entire human race becomes enlightened. Chances of that happening are very slim. Years ago, when I read Plato's Republic, I was astounded that we had evolved so minimally (if at all, and with B* at the helm we seem worse or as bad as their tyrannies)in a spiritual sense. How can we have evolved, if we still have all of the same problems of the human condition? And of course Plato's conclusion was that "Until philosophers rule as Kings, or Kings and Princes philosophize, there will be no end of evil." Wonder why it is that we never seem to elect types like, say the Dalai Lama? Actually, one of the reasons Plato wrote The Republic, was to convince the enlightened to rule. It so rarely happens, IMO, but it seems to be equally rare that evil people rule, as is the current case with BFEE.

Meditating for Universal Light is a very noble goal. Certainly our small planet Earth is in great need of help right now.

like the Dalai Lama? Because it seems that in our culture, many people rather elect someone they would like to have a beer with. Not only cannot they recognize Real Goodness, they also seem to reject intellectuality. Honestly speaking, how many really brilliant people have been elected to lead our country? Bill Clinton is brilliant but it wasn't for his intellect that they voted him into office twice.

But then we get into a very serious problem. The Neocon's philosophy is based on Plato and they believe that only the elite must rule, and that they also at the same time must lie to the masses to keep them placated. Really interesting stuff. The problem comes into play as to the morality of those in power. It's like anything else, yin and yang. Words can be used to express great love, or they can be used in a way to create emotional scars for life. A knife can be a great tool when used to prepare cuisine or it can be a murderous weapon. It is very hard sometimes to judge who's hands your placing that knife in. In seems that American's have had horrible judgement.

I hope every single day that America will finally wake-up and realize how We The People have been manipulated for at least decades. It will be interesting to see the shrub's poll numbers after this airstrike. Those numbers are going to be very meaningful.

As far as your concern about good vs evil just look to the night sky for your answer.

The stars and moon are only a small percentage of the night sky, but yet they overpower the darkness in such a way that they are and will always remain the dominate features. In life the struggle of good vs evil is much the same, an overwhelming amount of evil can be countered and overcome by a fraction of good.

the moon, and the comparison with good and evil. Also, I think you must be correct in terms of only a small amount of good being capable conquering tremendous evil. History bears that out. Christ, a single man whose words are still applicable today (though frequently misapplied and misunderstood, IMHO), Gandhi, the Buddha, the Dalai Lama, and so many others.

We were all trying so hard to prevent the invasion of Iraq, and Archbishop Tutu called for a silent vigil to start at 7pm in each time zone, so the light would go around the world in a wave...

Several hundred people in my town stood on the street outside the county courthouse, silent, with our candles. One woman began to shout slogans -- believe me, I understood her anger, but we needed peace more just then.

When she didn't settle down after awhile I raised my voice and started to sing "This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine." Soon other voices joined me. When we ran out of verses, someone else began a song about light. A cluster of people who sounded like members of a church choir sang a hymn about peace and light. And that's how we passed our vigil that night.

i should have thought by this time of millennia people would know that group guilt is more than ineffective -- it alienates people and hardens them against you so that they can never change their minds

I protested the 2000 election, for crying out loud I have lived in Florida since 1996, The Florida/SCOTUS outcome/vote/no vote was a knife in the gut to all of us here in the sunshine state. I also support our troops by sending underwear, razors, toothpaste, shampoo since the px's are not supplied enough to be able to handle the demand - www.anysoldier.com ,Also we(my lady and I) have sent care items to the Iraqis as well to help us sleep better at night.

Bottom line, it does not matter how much protesting you do, or how much you try to help out people on all sides of this POS war, but when you are paying for it whether by your own approval or not then you/we are all responsible. Now if you don't pay US taxes then I can see your point, but my point was for all US taxpayers no matter what their position and history is for this war.

Jeez I feel guilty as hell right now because Iraqi electricity is under what it was from 3 years ago and here I am debating semantics on a computer, I should be shot.
