11. 5,404 years
Edited on Thu Mar-16-06 04:18 PM by TahitiNut
That's how long it'd take to pay off the Debt if the entire U.S. labor force worked full-time at today's Federal minimum wage, with 100% of that wage applied to the debt, not counting interest or inflation and with no deductions for Social Security, Medicare, or anything else.

5,404 years

100% of the U.S. labor force

For those interested, it's 803,075,933 man-years of labor at minimum wage rates.

18. At $30K per person, we're looking like Argentina more and more
And the only way out of the mess is a free falling dollar. Maybe when the Iran 'petro-euro' bourse opens March 20th things will finally collapse and the manufacturing jobs will stay and/or start to come back here, with a currency worth spit.

Clinton didn't do this crap, this is all BushCo, thank you very much.

A strong dollar was supposed to be a Republican talking point. It is now, everyone's gossipping about it !

20. According to the Department of the Treasury...
The US debt was $5,674,178,209,886.86 on 09/29/2000 and $5,807,463,412,200.06 on 09/28/2001. (Information from http://www.publicdebt.treas.gov/opd/opdpdodt.htm) This means that the debt when Bill Clinton left office in January of 2001 was probably about 5.7 trillion dollars. The same site states that the debt as of Wednesday the fifteenth of March (two days ago) was $8,270,134,498,375.29.

21. Thanks for the information ArbustoBuster ~
So Bush has increased the debt by over 3 trillion dollars! The War doesn't account for all of that, although I did read somewhere that it would account for one trillion dollars ~ I'm not very good at economics, but where did this money go? And shouldn't there be an accounting of it somewhere?

Trillions, and he keeps cutting programs, like the little food program for seniors ~ it's simply mind-boggling!
