Gas prices literally jumped 15-20 cents here overnight.

6. same here in Florida, I heard that there is a chemical that is being taken

out of the gas making process that is gonna cost us about 130,000 barrels a day. I can't remember the name of it(3 or 4 letters in name), but NPR was reporting on it the other day. People were saying that our only hope would be to off set the loss with ethanol, but that seemed like a fantasy based on NPR's reporting.

I don't know if your question has to do with my answer but it is breathtaking to see prices jump $.20-$.30 in one week much less one day.

8. Yes, MTBE is being phased out

I read a story about it on FT.com yesterday. We do not have enough ethonal production to make up the demand right now. This mixed in with the seasonal switch will have us at $2.80-$3.00+ within the next couple of weeks, which is just post-Katrina levels.

We all know how the gas affects everything else in the economy.

20. 21 cent jump near Detroit in one night.

About 2 or 3 weeks ago, I was paying $2.09 a gallon. Everything crept back up to $2.35 or $2.40, then it just started jumping overnight. $2.59 at my neighborhood gas station today, $2.38 yesterday.
