C-SPAN Question: How has the Iraq War Affected You?
Brian couldn't get any Republicans to call in and say that it has made their life better, so he had the line changed to "Support President Bush" and of course that draws the idiots out of bed and onto the Bushbot line.

2. Woman on now who lost her son in Iraq
Edited on Fri Mar-17-06 07:25 AM by qanda
Said that her son died during a stop-loss order. Starting to cry while talking about her son. Said she feels like her son is a victim.

4. My observation every morning
Why is it that the real "flag-wavers" are always recent immigrants? The one that called this morning said it increased his interest in the history of previous wars, and the men and women that fought to preserve our freedoms. If this were true, he would see what a cluster fuck we're in.

I'm sure the veterans of these other wars don't see it quite the same way, especially after the Senate voted down additional monies for veteran health care yesterday.

How has it effected me? It's estranged me from my oldest daughter, the Bushbot. My kids, and ex-husband's whole family lives in Georgia. Next month my Mom, Dad and I are going down there for my grand baby's 2nd birthday. My other daughter is coming down from PA with her two. My parents have never seen any of these kids.

I'm suffering so much anxiety over this trip. They will all be there...the other grandparents, aunts, cousins...the people I've been getting Bushbot email from since the election. It will take everything I've got not to open my mouth, or give someone a bloody nose.

god help me

7. I liked the guy from Pa. who said it hasn't afffected him at all,
except that he got a tax cut, and a Support the troops magnet for $1.29, but other than that, it hasn't affected him at all. GB has made war easy!

9. Ever since MLK Jr
Who broke the law, which is the reason he was shot, everything that has gone wrong in this country is because of blacks.

That call had something to do with the question.

What an insane world we have lived in, do live in, and will always continue to live in.

I've met from there! Bigotry & prejudice are alive and well in some parts of the Country for sure. So sad.

12. Re. health research, the DOD
Edited on Fri Mar-17-06 08:41 AM by marions ghost
has cancelled funding for health research projects for veterans. The one major project that affects me
got all the way down to the distribution of funds and then was cut. Also NIH took a 5% budget cut this year (which would have compensated for inflation). These and other cuts in not-for-profit medical research were due to the high costs of the Iraq war. The Bushies are looking to squeeze every federal program they can.

There's also the anxiety associated with living in a country that is going down the tubes in general because of this misbegotten war. There is a psychological and emotional toll that goes beyond direct economic effects. It's profoundly disturbing to know that untold thousands have died and been maimed for this occupation of Iraq. And the anger that comes from knowing that billions have been wasted and the government is now tapping into vital government programs to pay for it is hard to live with. And then there is the shame and disgust at the loss of our reputation around the world.

13. Sorry, But That Didn't Happen
The very first time it came up on the screen, it said "Support President Bush". He didn't change it. That's just not correct.

But, it did indeed, bring out the idiots. That lady from Xenia really frosted me. So did the idiot who kept talking about how stupid dems are while butchering the English language. Perfect dichotomy!

14. You are correct
Edited on Fri Mar-17-06 08:18 AM by qanda
Sorry about that, my mistake was going off of what Brian Lamb had said about the one caller being a supposed Republican caller. I'll correct my OP if it's not too late.

On Edit: I cannot edit, I will let your post stand as a correction.

15. Just So You Know. . .
. . .that angered me too! He said something like "That was supposedly a Republican caller!" Grrrrrr!

So, we're on the same page! Other than that detail though, we had the same reactions to this morning's first segment.
