Question: Is it intelligent design when flu viruses mutate...
into deadly strains? We know that there is no such thing as unguided evolution, so it must be the intelligent designer who killed 50 million in 1918-20...

Just wonderin'

1. Christians don't realize that god is a virus and the flu is made in his
image not man.

4. For people who believe the Bible is true,
the answer would be yes. God is constantly smiting people for their various misdeeds. In the Bible, people don't have aneurisms or heart attacks. If someone drops dead in the Bible, you can bet God has been up to some smiting again.

5. Ever hear George Carlin's rant on our self-serving "sanctity of life?"

7. Tis a hoot!
It was part of a larger, closing routine he did, probably in the mid 90s, talking about entropy science, the end of our species, of society, etc. It's also included in one of his first two books, "Brain Droppings," probably. We're going to see him next month!

that make Calvin correct?

so many questions, so few answers .....

but a lot of conjecture and opinion and a lot of "I am obviously correct and shall therefore ridicule others" on this political board.

interesting....

:-)

9. No Its Not - and Its Not When A Baboon Makes It To Manhood Either
Evolution is the nature of species development. There is no such thing as Intelligent Design. Its is a buzzword phrase made up by the Christian Right to promote their superstitions - it has nothing what so ever to do with how, when, or why real living organisms mutate or their chances of successful reproduction.

11. Excellent article on I.D. by Chomsky
"Unlike Intelligent Design, for which the evidence is zero, malignant design has tons of empirical evidence, much more than Darwinian evolution, by some criteria: the world’s cruelty. Be that as it may, the background of the current evolution/intelligent design controversy is the widespread rejection of science, a phenomenon with deep roots in American history that has been cynically exploited for narrow political gain during the last quarter-century. Intelligent Design raises the question whether it is intelligent to disregard scientific evidence about matters of supreme importance to the nation and world — like global warming." (excerpt)
