How to get Joe Lieberman back for being a DINO
Edited on Fri Mar-17-06 11:27 AM by DeBunk
Call his office, at (202) 224-4041, and tell them:

"If Lieberman doesn't sign on to the Censure resolution I am going to send Ned Lamont $100".

Then please do us all a favor and send Lamont what you can afford. The message must be sent.

1. You can do the same for Hillary --->
Tell her you'll be sending $100 to her NY Senate primary opponent Jonathan Tasini, who supports censure AND impeachment.

www.tasinifornewyork.org

“I support Sen. Russ Feingold’s proposal that the U.S. Senate censure George Bush for his illegal wiretapping of American citizens. Feingold is right when he asserts that the Bush Administration, ‘repeatedly misled the public prior to the public disclosure of the National Security Agency surveillance program by indicating his administration was relying on court orders to wiretap suspected terrorists inside the United States.’

I call on Hillary Clinton to join me in supporting Feingold’s proposal.

At the same time that I support Feingold’s proposal, I believe that the illegal conduct of this Administration has been so rampant as to justify the filing of Articles of Impeachment in the House of Representatives against the president and the vice-president.

14. Yes! Tasini.
And she better be reminded of it every day. She takes us for granted, her base.

When I did it, they were pretty shocked.

I've posted this as many places as I can. Hopefully they will be more shocked when a few dozen, or a few hundred do it.

6. Fellow I spoke with was polite and said he would certainly pass my
message along. But he sounded a little flustered. Hopefully that means he's been fielding a number of such calls.

5. It's a lovely gesture but
surely the vast right wing money machine has handsomely paid Lieberman to be their Dem point man. And far more money than the Great Unwashed (that's usn's, ya'll) could hope to threaten him with giving to his opponent.

One of the biggest mistakes we are making is looking at these guys like they are invincible or something. That's why we get pounded all the time.

All we have to do to win is participate.

13. "Invincible" is your word, not mine
nor did I suggest that they are unbeatable. My suspicion is that the RW has given Lieberman far more money than we could ever threaten him with, thus he stands with the opposition party rather than with his own.

I respectfully disagree.

No amount of money is going to change the fact that he's "Bush's favorite democrat".

Besides, let's make him spend it in the primary.

It doesn't really matter to me. Even an empty gesture is better then sitting here watching our country go down the drain.

22. It should matter to you
and I agree that no amount of money will change the fact that he's Junior's fave Dem.

By all means, threaten Joementum with monetary blackmail if it makes you feel better about our country going down the drain. My point is, it will not affect him adversely so we can't expect him to change his evil ways simply because we contribute to his opponent's campaign. Ain't gonna happen, not when overflowing RW coffers can give him so much more than we the people can.

24. I think you are wrong.

I think he's scared and a bit desperate. And, while I am under no illusions as to the effectiveness of this particular plan.

I feel Lamont can not only win this race, but that he probably will.

At the very least I am helping him, at the very worst....I have to deal with the normal pessimism from fellow democrats that I always encounter every time I try to do anything. I don't let it stop me anymore.

26. I want Lamont to win
so ultimately we agree (perhaps I'm not so wrong after all ;) ). However, rather than taunt Leberman with "neener neener, I'm giving to your opponent, ha ha ha", is it not better to just contribute to Lamont and let Joementum figure out for himself what the hell is happening. He's no friend so why clue him in.

I'm not a local. I thought this would be a good way to attract attention outside of CT.

Anyway, you keep doing what you're doing and...you know the rest.

When Lamont wins we can celebrate together!!

volunteers who do the work are invaluable and without them, all the fat cats have are boring MSM ads. We have the power to send a message and there could never be a better time.

That's exactly how I feel.

Our leaders don't do what we want them to do because they don't have to.

I'm tired of talking about how they don't lead. It's time we lead them.

I think combining this with bush's abysmal poll numbers might send a little shiver up holy Joe's spine.

15. Done. Kicked. Recommended. I think the point was made.
I voted for Senator Lieberman when he was the Democratic Vice Presidential nominee. Time for him to start acting like one of the DEMOCRATIC leadership. I told the staffer I wanted him to quit looking like a Republican. I gave him until Wednesday to respond.

17. I hope Lamont wins the primary
It's probably a long shot but we need to have progressive Democrats in the Senate, especially if they represent a northeastern state. I don't mind a Senator like Lieberman in Nebraska or Mississippi. I just don't want one like him in Connecticut. That being said I will support Lieberman if he gets the nod in the primaries.
