"The 7 Deadly Virtues, those nasty little traps,"
"Oh No My Leige, they were not meant for me.
Those 7 Deadly Virtues were made for other chaps,
Who love a life of failure and ennui."

"Take COURAGE: now THERE'S a sport.
An invitation to the state of 'Rigor Morte.'"

"And PURITY: a NOBLE YEN.
And very restful, every now and then."

"I find HUMITILY, means to be hurt:
It's not the EARTH the meek inherit; it's the DIRT."

"HONESTY is FATAL. It should be taboo."

"DILEGENCE a fate I would hate."

"If CHARITY means GIVING, I GIVE it to YOU,"

"And FIDELITY is only for your mate."

"You'll never find a virtue unstatusing my quo,
Or making my Beelzebubble burst.
Let others take the high road, I will take the low.
I cannot wait to rush in where angels fear to go.
With all those 7 Deadly Virtues,
Free and happy little me
Has NOT
BEEN
CURSED!"

The 7 Deadly Virtues, from CAMELOT by Lerner and Lowe (I think)
Best sung by the late Roddy McDowell on stage playing MORDRED.

And the glorious anthem of the RePIGlican Party.

2. I think that last one may be badly translated
"Worship without CHARITY" might be better.

"Sacrifice" conjures up too many images of dead lambs being burnt on piles of wood.

3. no - that is how it reads everywhere I have seen it
it means "giving something up" not "slaughtering for His/Her glory"

5. I know, I'm just telling you the problem with it
and I doubt the original translator considered the biblical baggage when he chose the word.

6. Ghandi didn't need a translater - he spoke fluent English.
He knew what he was saying.

4. The 7 Deadly Sins - ala Jimmy Buffett:

1. PRIDE: Thou shalt not have pride in thy neighbor.
2. COVETING: Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife.
3. LUST: Thou shalt not lust after his neighbor's wife.
4. ANGER: Do not be angry with your neighbor's wife.
5. GLUTTONY: Do not eat thy neighbor's wife's ........popcorn.
6. ENVY: Do not envy your neighbor's wife.
7. SLOTH: Do not be a slob.

And the eighth 8th deadly sin is............PIZZA!

- "Bank of Bad Habits"
