Reuters, you and the Associated Press are both guilty as hell of shoddy
reporting and misleading headlines. People who work for the wires should be ashamed of crap like this:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060317/ts_nm/abortion_pill_dc

"US reports two more deaths after abortion pill"

People die after eating rolaids too.

I hate our "news" organizations with a passion.

1. Yea the headline makes it seem like it's an epidemic...
This grabs the neocons attentions so they can say see...see we told you that it was unsafe...yet they don't provide statistics of deaths from other medication for a comparison...Extremely misleading..

I hate them along with you....

3. I admit I was setting up to defend the headline.
After all, if the drug was indeed the culprit, I'd rather they work on making it safer. But that was before I read the article:

Two new deaths have been reported after women took the abortion pill known as RU-486 but officials do not know if the fatalities are connected to the drug, U.S. regulators said on Friday.

"At this time we are investigating all circumstances associated with these cases and are not able to confirm the causes of death," the Food and Drug Administration said in an advisory to the public.

Four previously reported deaths were linked to complications from a bacterial infection that developed after the women took the abortion pill, which is sold by privately held Danco Laboratories.

You're right. This is shoddy as hell.

5. The story states that the women did not follow the instructions...
to using the products.

The women were supposed to take two pills orally and then follow up two days later with two more pills orally. Well the women inserted the last set of pills in their vagina's, apparantly some clinics are promoting this latter process....it is not recommended by the FDA.

That should be near the top of the article!!!

Completely misleading..

6. Yep. Why even report it?
what's the point?

The reporter has no clue what these women died of; hell they could had an allergic reaction to something for all we know. But, no...gotta get those women right there on the front page of Yahoo.

Shame on them.
