Is it just me, or is breaking the law becoming government standard...
...operating procedure?

We all know Bush has done it countless times. Corporations are doing it - especially if it saves money and/or screws the little guy.

I just read the DU thread headline about Reservists being hit by creditors despite laws that protect them - and zingo, another broken law!

It seems that I find the government, corporations, and others breaking the law more and more often lately, and no one seems to care.

Bush sure has started us down a slippery slope with no end in sight. What's next, total anarchy? Pretty soon we'll all be reluctantly strapping on hand guns like they did in the old West just to stay alive when we go to the grocery store... That would be really bad for me since I don't like guns and couldn't bring myself to strap one on...

1. I've changed the way I'm raising my children.

Instead of teaching them to be honest and work hard, I'm now telling them to lie, cheat and break the law. Seems to be the only way they'll be successful when they grow up. x(

3. Apparently it's okay to ignore the rules of civilization and this country
if you're a member of this administration or the head of a major American corporation. Or even a corporation itself since they are seen as having the same rights as 'persons'.

4. Mystics say it is part of the degenerative process
that is going on now. I would say that it is another indication that our rule of law, the Constitution, and all other laws are in danger of being totally overthrown. Get ready for a rough ride, people.

6. I wonder if our Constitution can edure and remain intact.
It's obvious those in power see it as antiquated and a barrier to global domination. A rought ride indeed.

5. We all have to remember....
these guys don't give a damn what we think! They control the purse strings and they justify that awful "burden" rationale for breaking the law.IMO

7. that's where you are wrong
there are republicans losing races all over the country where they have not lost in a generation, some pollsters are now giving the (generic) Democrats a 20% edge and
the number of those retiring from the House and Senate grows every day. Plus Katherine
Haris is now going to fund her campaign to win the florida senator race against Nelson
by dipping into her inheritance.

They care, plus Abramoff's sentencing has been delayed as an incentive that he will
give more testimony.

They Care, they are just trying to bluster; they may start a 3rd war to push thru
a republican stand-off in 06, that's the big problem. If he does, it's only going
to harden resistance. The larder is empty, we are broke, we do not have the money
or resources to fight the wars we have let alone open up a 3rd front with one of the
richest nations on the planet and one which supplies not only oil to us but natural
gas as well.

8. I give you...
that they care about us in a political sense but not in any other way. We all know that political opinions haven't been able to change corporate behavior--they always find a way around it.....and their path is not ours. Even if they lose seats, and they will, they'll continue to manipulate behind the scenes until the time is right again. Wolfalwizty only had to wait a few years until his vision came to be. This is going to be a long fight for us----and I'm not talking about "international" terrorism but the domestic kind.

12. I don't think so
I think from the beginning their objective has been short term, slash and burn, destroy
all opposition, loot the treasury, leave the democrats with the tab, while their
backers go global, I don't think they give a smirk about the American people.

14. yes, except I see them as apolitical
they hate politics, they don't want involved, people say the same thing about Jebbie, they
want to grab the power, lock the doors and loot the treasury. Once they have devoured
everything, they will move on like locusts. They will not manipulate behind the scenes,
they will leave someone else the bloody carcass to care for. They are corporate raiders
in every way.
