The sticks will then be auctioned off to raise money for breast cancer. What a nice thing to do.

3. I think that's great!
My mom is a breast cancer survivor (12 years now), so anything and everything that can be done to support breast cancer research, I'm for. Hockey players with pink sticks? So the heck what? It's the cause, not the color, that's the important thing here!

4. Back on track: Here's more from the article. Gretzky's/TPS Hockey benefit.
Equipment manufacturer TPS Hockey is spending an estimated $50,000 for the initiative, which sprouted in the Gretzky family home in Brantford, Ont., shortly after the death of Wayne Gretzky's mother, Phyllis.

"It's a tribute to hockey moms," said Brad Janson, TPS' director of pro hockey.

Janson said the deaths of Phyllis Gretzky to lung cancer, and TPS' new owner Paul Walker's sister to breast cancer motivated the charitable effort.

<snip>

Each player, and goalie, has his name inscribed on the stick, which will later be autographed and auctioned to raise money for breast cancer research.

5. I think it's wonderful--I lost my best friend to breast cancer this past
summer, and she was a devoted hockey fan, so THANK YOU, hockey players, and everyone involved in this effort.

I do have one comment though--in the article, it said that the cost of painting each stick is $300. I didn't realize krylon was THAT expensive!!!

7. Where is the money going?
I'm still curious about the answer to that question. "Breast cancer research" is a bit vague an answer.

Anyone know? :shrug:
