My husband got a job and moved to Florida over a year ago. I will NOT move to that state, even if it means getting a divorce. I cannot compromise who and what I am. I would rather die single and poor in a Blue State, than live married and well to do in a Red State. Ditto for my college age daughter. Although after all this time, my husband seems to be REGRETTING his decision. A case of you can take the boy of a Blue State, but you cannot take the Blue State out of the boy, even a Republican one. After being married for over 30 yeas, I can read between the lines.

3. it's a hard place to live in, but on the left coast

there are many more like minded people. Bad thing is, we're riding on the tourism bubble, and with the hurricanes that came through last year, the year before that and what's expect this year, things ain't looking good for the real estate market (affordable housing, that is).

4. We were vacationing in Florida during the recount of 2000. We

haven't been back since. I also am boycotting Washington DC. I tell my husband I refuse to go there while a lying criminal is in the White House. I was hoping to visit once President Kerry moved in but alas.... I wish I could boycott the state that stole 2004 for ** but unfortunately I live here.

The latest immigration figures confirm a rebound in international travel after a post-9/11 slump -- and Miami remains the busiest international visitor gateway.

When Mario and Annett Kuehne left Leipzig one recent morning, the forecast called for snow and a high of 32. When they landed at Miami International Airport, the sun was shining and the temperature was 77.

Asked why they picked Miami as their gateway to the United States, the Kuehnes beamed and replied in unison: ``The weather!''

The Kuehnes led a group of 43 older German tourists, part of a renewed wave of foreign visitors. International travel to the United States continues to rebound in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, and nowhere else is the recovery more evident than in Miami.

After Sept. 11, foreign travel to the United States fell sharply, largely because of increased immigration controls and visa delays. But figures in the newly released Yearbook of Immigration Statistics show that the number of foreign visitors admitted at all major ports of entry in the United States, including Miami, is up for the first time since the Sept. 11 attacks. Miami ranked No. 1 in the nation, according to the yearbook.

But a silent boycott does nothing to address the issue. An effective boycott would have been brought up in the immediate aftermath of the 2000 rigged election. It would have been organized by some democratic group and received plenty of press as to why the boycott was taking place. It would not only have created a public relations nightmare for Florida, but would also have dealt a serious blow to the Florida tourism industry.

But none of this has happened.

But in all honesty, a boycott of this magnitude would be an incredible feat to pull off considering that Florida's tourism economy has survived hurricanes, crime waves against tourists and skyrocketing hotel prices.

15. Me. I will NEVER vacation in Florida again.

We're taking a cruise in June and made sure our ship left from somewhere other than Florida. We will leave from Puerto Rico. My husband use to LOVE Fl. His family owned a hotel there, many years ago, and he spent his childhood summers living at the Hotel. Even HE refuses to go back there.


Also...we must remember....those nut jobs are allowed to carry guns and shoot anyone they feel is a threat to them.:scared: Absolutely crazy.

I think our next vacation, after the cruise, will be in NEW ORLEANS!:thumbsup:
