Libby Trial May Be Embarrassment for Bush
WASHINGTON - Lawyers for Vice President Dick Cheney's former top aide are signaling they may delve deeply at his criminal trial into infighting among the White House, the CIA and the State Department over pre- Iraq war intelligence failures.

In a prelude to a possible defense, the lawyers for I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby also are suggesting that the State Department — not Libby — may be to blame for leaking the identity of covert CIA officer Valerie Plame to the media.

Court papers filed late Friday raise the possibility a trial could become politically embarrassing for the Bush administration by focusing on the debate about whether the White House manipulated intelligence to justify the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in March 2003.

The defense team stated that in June and July 2003, Plame's CIA status was at most a peripheral issue to "the finger-pointing that went on within the executive branch about who was to blame" for the failure to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

1. * doesn't get embarassed. How embarassed would you be if
the World Trade Center was destroyed on your watch after you'd been warned? If you started a war over something that wasn't there? If you went to a birthday party while people you could have helped were drowning? That fucker doesn't care... Dubyah could shit his pants on national TV and blame the liberal media for it.

2. Maybe !?!? It god damned better already be an embarrassment!!!
This should be another talking point for every dem in the '06 congressional elections.

These talking points should be standard fare for any dem this year:

1. Plamegate/Libby indictment scandal.
2. Abramoff lobbying scandals.
3. DeLay indictment for fund raising/money laundering scandal.
4. Prescription drug program.
5. Port security.
6. Ongoing no end in sight war.
7. Katrina/Fema/Homeland insecurity debacle.

4. A state department is to blame? Not a person within the state dept.?
You know, number one rule in writing lessons to pissed off customers, is to direct their anger to the proverbial "we," not "me."
